Scooter's POV
Slow motion.. Everything was happening in slow motion. First Derek, then John, then Shawna. I ran to her side and started to apply pressure.
"ALFREDO GET OUT HERE AND HELP DEREK AND JOHN!" I shouted, I was overwhelmed.
Derek was trying to sit up and he was bleeding from his side.
"Calm down," Alfredo said to Derek and laid him back down.
Some of the dancers were taking care of John. He was shot in the leg. Shawna was still unconscious and she was bleeding a lot. I tried to control it but it was so difficult.
My mind was racing, almost as quick as my heart. My stomach was in a pit. Tears were soaking my cheeks as I tried to save Shawna.
Her eyes fluttered open and she widened them and tried to wiggle from underneath my pressure.
"Shawna calm down," I said. "Everything will be okay."
She started crying and I pushed her hair out of her face.
"It's okay sweetie, just fight through this."
She nodded.
"Is she okay?" Derek asked.
"Calm down," I said.
I looked around and people were crying and shaking and helping John. It was scary to deal with but it was so overwhelming.
"EVERYONE PLEASE CALM DOWN! I know it's difficult but please, we need to stay calm for the three of them," I shouted.
Shawna was getting weaker as the paramedic arrived. They immediately put an oxygen mask on her and bandaged the wound. I watched as they worked quickly. Her eyes started to roll in the back of her head and they got her on a gurney.
"We're losing her!" A paramedic said.
"Start CPR until we can get to the ambulance," another said.
I followed as they took her to the ambulance. Once they got inside they put a tube down her throat and pumped air.
"Come in sir," one of them told me.
I got inside and sat down. They started to drive as a paramedic pumped air in her. I held her little hand and prayed. I prayed so hard. I felt someone put their hand on my shoulder and I looked up.
"I know it's difficult," the paramedic said. "Just last year I watched my mom get shot right in front of me. It's scary, but we're going to do everything we can to save Shawna."
"Thank you," I smiled slightly. "Any word on the others?"
"Sixteen people are on their way to the hospital," the driver said.
"Oh my goodness, that's a lot."
We got to the hospital.
"She's going into surgery," the paramedic told me. "We'll have our nurses keep you updated."
--------------------------------
I dialed Justin's number after Shawna had been in surgery for four hours.
"Hello?" He answered.
"Hey, I have some bad news. Really bad."
"What happened? Is Shawna okay?"
"She was shot earlier and she's in surgery right now. I don't have any word on how she's doing," I said. I tried to keep my voice calm.
I heard Justin crying, "please Scooter you have to tell me how she does."
"I will Justin, stay calm okay?"
"I can't, that's my entire world. She's my everything Scooter, if I lose her I cannot live. I just can't," he said.
"Justin, they're trying really hard. Just pray okay? I will call you when I find something out."
"Thanks Scooter," he said.
He hung up and I sat back down next to Alfredo. Alfredo patted my back.
"She's going to be okay, don't worry."
A nurse came out and I stood up.
"They just finished repairing her aorta, which is the most difficult repair to do. Be mindful when she wakes up, she lost a lot of blood and her heart is very weak right now. She'll have to see a doctor in six weeks before she can even think of going back onstage. She will need to stay in the hospital for at least two weeks to make sure she stays stable and gets some strength," the nurse explained. "I will let you know when she wakes up."
"Okay, thank you."
I sat down and tweeted: 'Shawna made it through surgery. She will need a lot of recovery time. Thanks for prayers guys, scary night!'
'I will let you all know the shows that are going to be rescheduled due to her injuries. For now im going to visit with her :)'
The nurse called us back and Shawna was just waking up. She had her eyes barely open.
"Hey sweetie," I sat down.
She smiled a little, "hey." She whispered.
Alfredo sat beside me and smiled at her. She had her eyes closed.
"Can I have some water?" She asked.
"Yeah of course," I smiled and poured a cup for her. I held the cup for her as she sipped through the straw.
"Thanks," she said when she was done.
She was starting to wake up a little bit more.
"How's Derek?" She asked.
"He just got out of surgery, he was asking about you cause I visited him while we waited for you to wake up." Alfredo said.
"Oh," she said. "Well I'm fine."
I grabbed Shawna's hand and smiled at her. Tears were in my eyes.
"Scooter im okay," she said.
"It was so scary," I shook my head as the tears fell. "So scary."
"I know," she frowned. "But look! I'm okay."
I smiled, "thank goodness. Justin would've killed me."
Shawna laughed. "Wait, can I call him?"
"Of course," I handed her my phone.
She picked it up and dialed his number. She put the phone to her ear.
"Hey baby," she said... "I'm good, are you okay?"... "Don't worry about me Justin, I'll be just fine."... "I know, it was scary. But I'm fine."... "I love you too babe. And I miss all of you so much!"... "I'll talk to you soon!"... "Bye."
She handed me the phone and then laid her head back.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm just tired."
"Get some sleep sweetie," I kissed her head.
