Chapter 24: Surprise!

One Month Later...

"I love you guys," I told my teammates. "I'll see you all at Coachella in one week!" I said.

We all hugged and said our goodbyes. Derek and I got into the car with Scooter and Alfredo, we were all going back to LA for the break.

"So are you from LA?" Scooter asked Derek.

"No but my mom is recording an album there so I'm visiting her. Plus she has a beach house that we always have family and friends over for Coachella," Derek said.

"Was she excited when you told you'd be dancing in Coachella?" I asked him.

"She doesn't know," he smiled. "I'm telling her tonight at her birthday dinner."

"Aw that is so cute! Record it cause I would love to see her reaction," I said.

"Or you can come?" He said. "She loves you and I'm sure she'd love to have you at her dinner and party."

"Okay. Is it okay if Justin comes too?" I asked.

"Oh of course," Derek said.

We got to the airport and boarded the plane quickly. Derek and I sat beside each other and we talked until I fell asleep a few hours later. When we landed Justin wasn't at the airport but he didn't know I was coming in today. I told him tomorrow so I'm going to surprise him.

Scooter dropped me off at my house. I let myself in. Justin was laying on the couch but he wasn't alone, someone was underneath him. I looked as a girl's nails dug into my husbands bare back. I watched as she kissed his lips and played with his hair. As they continued I noticed it was Yovanna.

"Surprise Justin," I said.

He jumped up and wiped his lips. Yovanna sat up and looked at me, shocked.

"Wipe that look off your face and get out of here bitch," I crossed my arms.

"Shawna," Justin walked toward me.

"JUSTIN YOU CHEATED ON ME AGAIN!" I screamed as tears poured down my face.

Yovanna stood up and put her shoes on. Justin went to grab my arm and I pushed him away.

"Don't pretend like I didn't just see what happened," I said. "You lied to me and you cheated on me once again."

"Shawna I'm-"

"NO!" I screamed. "I WAS COMING HERE TO SURPRISE YOU AND I FIND YOU WITH THIS SKANK ON THE COUCH."

"I'm not a skank," Yovanna said.

"I TOLD YOU TO GET OUT OF HERE YOU LITTLE EIGHTEEN YEAR OLD SPOILED BITCH," I walked over to her and as I was about to punch her Justin grabbed my arm.

I turned around and he hugged me tight so I couldn't move. Yovanna left.

"Justin," I cried. "I was going to punch her."

"And go to jail?" He said. "No."

He let go of me and I smacked him across the face.

"You're a piece of shit," I said as I walked upstairs to see my babies. They were laying on my bed watching tv.

"Hi babies," I smiled as the tears still came down my face.

"Mama!!!!" Jessica hugged me.

Carter crawled over to me and I hugged the two of them. I kissed both of them.

"Are you staying here forever now?" Jessica asked.

"No sweetie," I said. "I'll be here for a week. But then I have three more months and then I'll be here forever."

"Good," Jessica said. "I miss you."

"I miss you too," I said. "I love you guys so much."

"I love you too," Jessica said.

Carter giggled. I went into my closet and picked out a red strapless dress that went to my mid thigh and had slits in the hip. I grabbed some heels that matched and I went into the bathroom to shower.

I took a long shower and I replayed everything that I saw when I walked inside. I cried until my head hurt and then got out. I put on the dress and heels. I put on my favorite necklace that Justin bought for our one year together and I put on a bracelet that my mom gave me.

I texted Derek: 'what time is the party?'

He responded: '6:30 :)'

I curled my hair and applied my makeup. I left at 6:00 after kissing my babies and leaving Justin alone on the couch. I arrived to the party alone. Famous people were everywhere and I found Derek over by the punch bowl.

"Hey," I hugged him.

"Hey, you look stunning!" He smiled and kissed my cheek.

"Where's Justin?" Derek asked.

"Home," I said.

"He didn't want to come?" He asked.

"Long story," I sighed.

"Well we can talk if you want," he grabbed my hand and led me inside a little gazebo. Inside were white couches and it was quiet. We sat down and looked out at the little waterfall that was on the property.

"So, what's up?" He smiled.

"I came home and I was going to surprise Justin but he was kissing Yovanna, actually making out with her on my couch." Replaying it in my mind made it hurt even more.

"What? Really?" Derek looked shocked.

"He's done it before but it's been years. I just couldn't believe it. He's the love of my life and he's been lying to me," I had tears coming down my cheeks now.

"Shawna don't let this ruin you, you're a strong and beautiful girl and you deserve much better."

I hugged Derek and he held me for a long time. When I pulled away from him I looked into his deep brown eyes. Without thinking I connected our lips. It felt perfect, like we were meant to be. Something I've never felt with Justin. I pulled away when I realized what I was doing.

"I'm sorry," I said. "I can't cheat on him. I'm not like that."

"Shawna it's okay, it was just a kiss. We don't have to tell anyone. Just saying I don't kiss and tell," Derek rubbed my back.

"Neither do I," I smiled and we stepped out of the gazebo.

We joined the rest of the party.. After the night was over Derek walked me to my car and I gave him a hug.

"Thank you," I said. "I had a great time."

"Of course, if you need anything call me. If I don't see you throughout the week then I'll see you Saturday."

"Okay," I said. "See you soon."

I got in the car and drove home. I went inside and the lights were all off. I checked on the kids and they were sleeping. Justin wasn't in our room or downstairs. I changed into one of his sweatshirts and some short shorts.

I heard music and I followed it. He was in the studio. I put my back up against the wall and listened. His voice soothed me and I felt tears going down my cheeks as I replayed him and Yovanna.

My heart was physically aching and I couldn't control my crying. I listened as he sang and then he'd stop. I sat there until dawn. He was up writing all night. I heard him crying and I heard him get mad as he wrote a beautiful song.

At 6:00 am he played a song and sang it all the way through. His voice made me feel so weak and I ached for him. I loved him so much and he hurt me so badly. I wanted him but I can't have him.

The door opened to the studio.

"Shawna?" I heard his sweet voice. "Are you okay?"

"I'm okay," I tried to hide the sadness in my voice.

"Baby," he sat down beside me. "I love you so much."

"Don't start that," I said. "Just sit here."

We sat there silently. Hours went by and not a word was spoken. Finally I laid my head on his shoulder and fell asleep to him playing with my hair.
