After our 'meeting' in Maddie's room I had to get ready. I went to my room and put on a light blue off-shoulders dress that compliments my eyes. After that I go to Nat's room. She helps me to put my hair into a half up half down hairstyle. I went back to my room when I suddenly realize that I forgot my necklace. I look around for it pretty panicked, as it is one of the last few things I have of my mum. I found it in my wardrobe, lying next to my suit. I quickly put it on and look in the mirror, touching my necklace I sigh relieved. Still looking into the mirror I see my thigh holster lying behind me. I pick it up, put a few knives in it and put it on. Better safe than sorry. After making sure it's secure and not visible to anyone I go over to my bed and sit down. Grabbing a book I wait for prom to start. I don't go and never went to school, so this is going to be my first prom ever.
Looking at the clock I see that it is time to leave. Putting on my flats I go outside, where the others are already waiting. They stand next to a limo that will take us to prom. Maddie wears a green dress with a leg slit and looks absolutely stunning. After we all went inside Maddie started to talk about the situation with Bruce. She seems pretty worried.
As soon as we arrive at the strip club, that the Avengers rented for us, everyone gets out of the car. We went inside and look around. Everything looks like in these teen movies. Maddie grabs my hand and pulls me over to a photo op, where we take a few pictures.
She left to go and get punch, so Kandyce and I talk a little bit. After a while Maddie joins us. After a few minutes I get up and go over to Corey and Dee. They are always nice company. A little bit after that Jay comes over and asks if I want to dance with her. She wears a black dress that sure as hell got a talk about 'being inappropriate' from my dad. She looks awesome.
After the dance I go over to my dad. We just talk and enjoy each other's company. During our conversation I glance over to Maddie and Kandyce, who are having a pretty heated conversation. I really don't want to listen in to them, but because of my enchanted hearing that comes with being a super soldier I can't do anything against it.
"WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO?" is Kandyce's answer to Maddie's former question or statement.
"NOT THAT! THAT WAS SUPER RISKY AND YOU KNOW IT!"
"YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME, I'M JUST DOING WHAT IS BEST FOR THE TEAM AND MAYBE EVEN THE WORLD!"
Dad notices them too and turns around, so that he's facing them. I look around the room. Most people don't notice them yet, except for Bucky. I guess they are quiet enough so that only super soldiers can hear them.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU READ BRUCE'S MIND! WHAT IF HE-"
Well, that was too loud. Everyone is quiet and looks at them, showing different emotions.
Tony is clearly angry. "You've been reading Bruce's mind? This has gone TOO FAR. Bruce has been a part of this team for longer than you guys and someone being 'evil' or 'wanting to kill us' is a HUGE, BASELESS allegation. This is ridiculous. I spent a bunch of money setting up this stupid prom, and you are accusing Bruce of poisoning the punch."
I wish Emma would be here. She's at least able to say something against Tony.
I look over to Bruce who looks offended. He's gotten better at acting.
"HE DID POISON THE PUNCH!" Kandyce and Maddie shout simultaneous.
"Kandyce read his mind" Maddie adds.
"Did she? Or is your baseless paranoia getting in the way? You know what, to prove that the punch ISN'T poison, I'm going to drink it."
Tony picks up a cup and downs it completely. I don't know if I should be angry that he won't believe us or concerned because he could be dying.
"It tastes spiked." After that he falls down. Unconscious. He should have listened to us.
Eveyone jumps into action. Most of them run out to get their suits, Maddie goes after Bruce and Kandyce goes over to Tony to help him. I join her, as I can't move in this dress and I left my suit at home. Kandyce gets the liquid out of Tony before I am able to reach them. Parademics from the ambulance someone called come over and get him.
Kandyce flys up, most likely looking for Bruce. Dad comes back inside and gets me. During the car ride I think about everything that happened today. Well, I guess there are worse ways for a first prom.
My phone vibrates, telling me that I have a new notification. I unlock it and see that there is a text from Maddie. She asks me if I came home okay. After I assure her that I did she apologizes to me. I would tell her that it's okay, but I feel too tired for that. I didn't catch much sleep in the last few weeks after fighting our selves from the future. The nightmares came back. Looking out the window I start to doze off.
