I comb through her office, and find the bomb. I don't know how to diffuse it. I only have 5 minutes and I don't know how to diffuse it. I'm totally screwed.
I press the button to activate the intercom, shaking.
"Pietro. Please come to Miss Augustus' office. Now." I release the button and by the time my finger is up hes in my office.
"Woah!" He shouts, seeing Miss Augustus still in her chair. "Did you just-"
"Pietro. There's a bomb. You need to get everyone out. Like, now."
"I- Alright." He runs off.
I grab the bomb and start to fiddle with it. I try to remember that one bomb diffusion lesson I slept through. Shit. I saw through a wire with the dagger, and the timer ticks down to 1 minute. Shit. Shit.
I press the button again.
"Pietro, hurry up! You have like a minute!" I shout, panicking.
Everyone's going to die and it'll be my fault. I sit on the floor with my back against the wall and cry.
I just killed Miss Augustus in cold blood. She could'nt've defended herself even if she wanted to. Now she planted a bomb, and my friends are going to die.
This is all my fault. I pull my knees to my chest and bury my face in them. Everyone's going to die and it's my fault. I'm going to die, and it'll be my fault too.
I sit like that, crying, for what feels like a million years but is obviously under a minute. Pietro zooms in and I grab his arm and I'm suddenly on a hill overlooking the compound.
A part of the compound explodes, and the rest goes up in flames.
Adria is looking shocked. "Where's Miss Augustus?" she asks.
"I killed her..." I mumble. She whips her head around.
"You killed my mother?"
"Wait-"
"Miss Augustus was my MOM! Did you not realize that? Are you that dense! You murdered my MOM!"
I gasped, stepping back. I look over at the group, who's all staring with wide eyes.
Anna still has her eyes locked on the burning compound. "It's over. I failed." she whispers.
