The kid grabs the little animals off of us, and leads us more into the hollowed-out warehouse.
"I'm Max, by the way!" the kid says, excited. They're leading Adria by the hand, and eveyrone else is following. Right away I feel guilty. I've been hiding out like a coward all this time when this kid has stayed in a hollowed-out warehouse with no shower, no bed, and possibly no food or water.
Max takes us to their "bedroom", which is a section of the building that looks like it was once an office. The desk is pushed against the back wall to make room for a small blanket on the floor and a stuffed animal. Theres a bowl of water in the corner, and Max runs over to it and splashes their face and hair.
"Sorry it's not clean," they laugh. I notice their gray eyes and dark brown hair. I want to ask about their parents, but they're probably dead or something.
"You know," Max starts, still leading us throughout the warehouse, "I was at Disneyland when you guys were there! Kandyce even helped my find my parents!"
"How old ARE you?" I ask, "that kid looked maybe 8 or 9." Max turned to me and scowled.
"I'm 14," they say defensively. "And I was a small 11 year old."
"Didn't you have a phone?" Flynn asks.
"Didn't you have a brother?" Max retorts, pissed off.
"What the fuck," Adria says, "That was really uncalled for Max." Max glares at her.
"You're lucky I dont eat you." Max says, narrowing their eyes, "I haven't had meat in ages. I'm sick of worms and scavenging."
Adria turns to me, eyes wide. This is kid is feral. I drop Max's hand and bolt, Flynn and Adria following. Max runs up behind us and tackles Flynn.
"Flynn!" Adria screams, turning and running back to him. I groan and turn around, following behind her. She grabs the kid, body-slamming them to the ground.
Flynn gets up and runs, and I pull Adria off Max.
"Hey!" Max calls, standing up. I look back and they have a bloody nose. I feel guilty again. We practically broke into this kid's house and now we've broken their nose. We get back into the main part of the building, grabbing our bags.
We eventually escape, running into the burnt-down forest. We find a part that isnt burnt down and sit.
I grab a stick and draw out the compound with all of its sub-floors in the brown dirt.
"If we're going to take down FACTS," I start, "We need to start with killing Bruce." I circle his office on sub-level 2.
Adria and Flynn sit beside me.
"But, the only problem is, there will be ramped-up security since Adria's already killed Tony," I say, making marks in the dirt. "I think there will be security near the offices, elevators, and the Time Room. BUT, I think the best thing to do is go through the time machine and find and kill PAST Tony, preferably after his 'death'."
