Kandyce goes up to Tony and tells FRIDAY to open his suit. She's crying, and I don't know what to do. I'm not the best at this thing. Ive killed before, of course, but I'll never get used to seeing people die. I cover my mouth, and I feel like I'm going to throw up.
"This isn't real," I whisper. "There's no way he's- Ariba can-"
Kandyce shakes her head and turns to me. She's crying lava. I feel the tears spring to my eyes.
"What about Bruce?" I ask her, "Did he get away?"
"I killed him."
I feel dizzy and sick. I sit down on the ground. I pull out my phone and send out a mass text to meet at Tomorrowland. Jay must've been close, because she shows up within ten minutes.
"What's- Holy shit! What happened to Tony?"
"He-" I start, but I can't finish. She goes over and sees him, and she looks shocked.
"What if this is what causes the apocalypse? We need Mr Stark, right?" I say. Everyone's quiet. Eventually everyone shows up and Tony's taken away. We're asked to stay for a little while to make sure everyone gets out, and we stay another few hours.
We get back to the bus at midnight, and agree to stay at a hotel for the night so we don't get into a car crash or anything. I'm happy I brought a change of clothes, no one else did. I'm roomed with Jay, which never happens.
"I'm in shock," she says finally. Neither of us can sleep. We originally agreed to sleep in shifts and keep watch just in case the apocalypse starts, but we're in no state to sleep.
"Me too," I respond, "There's no way he's actually- you know, right? He has to be okay."
"He's dead, Maddie." She says seriously.
"What about-" I start. I don't want to talk about it, and it's clear she doesn't either.
We go in insta, but we don't post anything or go live. We stay up all night, talking about anything else. I just can't believe it.
I can't believe it. I don't even know what will happen with the Avengers now that it's all over.
