I look in the mirror, fixing the new suit they gave us for tryouts. After putting my necklace into my jewelry box I go to the training room, where the tryouts will be held. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I haven't seen the team in two days, which doesn't seem like much but it is.
Arriving in the training room I'm pretty confused. There are two other persons. Two girls who could be sisters. The first one, Adria, wears the same suit like we do. She seems pretty confident and self assured next to the other one. Adria has short brown hair and doesn't seem that nervous. The second girl, Anna, has short pink hair. Her stance is uncertain and she looks like she will cry any second. My guess is that she doesn't want to be here.
"Okay. We're going to start off with sparring, then we're going to do an aptitude test and interview. Good luck. Your pairings are posted on the door." Miss August says.
I walk over to the door, Maddie in front of me. Looking for my name on the list I see that I'm paired up with Anna. I look her up and down and can't see any major weaknesses. Why should I, she should have some skills to get chosen. Her personality in a fight and her normal personality could be the exact opposite.
Maddie and Ariba are up first. After a few of the others it's Anna's and my turn.
We go over to the mats and start our match. Anna and I circle around each other. I'm ready for her attack, which follows after a few seconds.
She much taller than me, and I have to look up to see her face.
After a few minutes we finished. The match was pretty good and I think I'll pass.
I get called into another room, where I'm supposed to take aptitude test. It's just a piece of paper with questions which I quickly answer.

There are a lot of other questions. I wasn't sure how to answer the age one, but I just went with my legal age. I guess Kandyce and Luka had the same problem.
After that I'm led to another room, where miss Augustus asks me a few questions.
She tells me to sit down, what I do. Looking down at her clipboard she starts asking the questions.
"How long have you been with the Avengers, miss" she asks, not looking up.
"They saved me in 2012, but I only started going on missions at the beginning of 2014" I answer her calmly.
"What are your powers?" she continues, writing down my former answer.
"I have the same powers like Captain Rogers" I tell her, cringing internal after calling my dad that "and I can control the elements. But also things that are related to one of the elements." I answer, not telling her about a few of my powers which could still be useful.
"What about your family?" she asks me, finally looking up from her fucking clipboard.
"Dead. Oh, except of my dad."
She looks at me questioning, telling me to continue.
"Oh, you know, Captain Rogers. I thought you already knew that." I tell her, trying really hard to not sound sarcastic.
After a few more questions I am free to leave. Well, not really free. I have to go to my room.
I take a shower and put on some normal clothes and my necklace. I sit down on my bed, re-reading my favorite book.
An hour later we all are called down for dinner. It's dead silent. Nobody talks because miss Augustus joined us. I hate her.
After dinner I go up to my room, continuing my book. I can't concentrate on it though. I'm nervous because of the tryouts and I can't get these girls from my mind. I fall asleep, still thinking about them.
One nightmare and a nice dream later I wake up and get ready. The moment I came out of my bathroom an agent came to my room, telling me to go to the training room.
Everyone is gathered in front of the list. I stay in the back. My enhanted sight makes it easier for me to read the list from the back. Going trough the names I am completely shocked.
I made it.
But dad didn't.
From the adults only Sam and Anna made it, no one else.
I want to cry. Maddie and I make eye contact.
Miss Augustus steps out of who knows where.
"If your name is not on the list, I need you to leave the compound. You are not to return or have any contact with any member of the Avengers."
