We sit and plan until the sun goes down. By sun up, we're ready to take it down. We walk down to the compound, walking cautiously past the warehouse. We're stopped by the kid.
They're crying. "I'm sorry," they cry. "I have powers, please let me help,"
I glance at Adria. "I'm not letting you risk your life," I say, "You're only 14."
"Please?" I glance at Adria, then Flynn.
"Fine," I say. "Come on."
As we walk, I fill Max in on the plan. We sneak past the guards and go all the way down to the Time Room. Alarms go off as soon as we open the door, flashing the hallways red and white. Kandyce steps in front of us.
"Kandyce," I shout, "Are you going to help us?" She looks at me blankly, and a feeling of dread washes over me. She's not here to help. She steps towards us. I step in front of Max instinctively.
"I don't want to hurt you," I warn her, "But I will if I have to." She stares at me blankly, stepping forward, ready to attack. I grab Max by the arm and drag them even more behind me. I use my powers to hush the area around her, she can't hear anything. She advances, breaching the bubble. I step back into a wall.
"Kandyce, please." I cry, "I really don't want to-"
Suddenly she punches me in the face.
I grab my gun from my hip and point it at her. "Don't move," I warn. Adria looks at me.
Flynn runs past me and kicks her. She turns slowly, and pins him to the wall way too easily.
"Should I kill your little boyfriend," she says to Adria. She has a sick grin. I've never seen her like this. I turn to Adria, who's covering her mouth and crying. As I'm turned, I her a snap. Adria's eyes widen, and she screams. I feel tears run down my face, but I can't bring myself to turn around.
Without looking, I shoot Kandyce. I have to succeed. We have to do this right. For Flynn. For Peter. For Max. For Kandyce. We enter the Time Room.
