I pull on my training suit. We got new ones for tryouts, a plain black turtleneck suit with no sleeves. They're pretty comfortable, actually.
I walk into the training room, and everyone else is already there. There's two new people. They introduce themselves as Adria and Anna. They look like they could be sisters.
Anna looks like she's going to cry, honestly.
"Okay. We're going to start off with sparring, then we're going to do an aptitude test and interview. Good luck. Your pairings are posted on the door." Miss Augustus says, looking down at her clipboard. Anna looks at her with tears in her eyes. Weirdo.
Adria has short brown hair, and she's wearing the same training suit as everyone else. Anna has pink hair, about the same length as Adria's, but she's wearing sweatpants over her training suit.
I go up to the list, and I've been paired up with Ariba. Flynn's been paired up with Adria, and Erika's paired up with the weirdo. The top of the line reads "no powers allowed".
I go over to Ariba and get ready. We're up first. I do mainly hand to hand in fights anyway since my powers are tough to use. But i'm going to try and match what she does so we both get a spot. After about 10 minutes, she has me pinned on the floor. We both put up a really good fight, I'd be surprised if one of us didn't make it.
Next is the aptitude test. I'm seated in a room I'd never been in before and handed a slip of paper and a pencil. It asks all kinds of questions like my age, how good at lying I am, how much I want to be part of the Avengers. I answer them in a way they'll want. I don't have anywhere else to go. Most of everyone else has an Avengers relative or relative they can go with, but not me. This is my only chance to not be homeless.
Once I'm done, Miss Augustus comes in to give me my interview. She asks me things like how long I've been on the Avengers, what my powers are, what my family's like, etc etc. She tells me to go straight back to my room; the results will be posted tomorrow.
I'm nervous.
