Chapter 38: The Gift

For many minutes that we stayed silent, I fall asleep. I just wake up lying on my bed here in headquarter. Last time I check, I'm lying on the sofa. Did he carry me here? Obviously. I let a deep sigh and get out of my bed. I went to the bathroom to fix myself. Pagkatapos ay lumabas ako.

I saw him in the kitchen cooking something. An apron hugging her body, his messy hair and his hand holding a knife, gracefully cutting carrots. He looks handsome. It makes me smile. I looked around but I found no trace of the three. He looked at me when I started to walk towards the kitchen. He immediately avoided his eyes when it meets mine. I just smirk. Why is he avoiding eye contact with me?

"What are you cooking?" I ask as I reach the counter table in the kitchen. He looked at me for a second and look again on the carrot he's slicing.

"I want a soup so I'm making one," he answered. I just nodded.

"What can I help?"

"No, it's okay. Just sit there and let me finish this," he said while putting the carrots in the pot. He's doing it smoothly like he was always doing it. I didn't know that he knows how to cook. Because when I ask them the first time I enter here, Warri immediately volunteered to cook. He didn't bother to volunteer that time.

After twenty minutes, the soup is ready. He give me a bowl of soup and we eat it together. We're silent while eating. I suddenly remember what I did yesterday. I put my answer on his face. Didn't he see it that's what he's not talking about it? Paano nga kung hindi niya nakita, sayang lang. Hindi ko rin naman kasi alam kung paano ko sasabihin sa kaniya sa personal. I don't think I have the courage to tell him it directly.

Pinapakiramdam ko siya kung magsasalita ba siya tungkol doon. Ilang beses akong palihim na tumitingin sa kaniya but he's eating seriously like he didn't know anything. Maybe he didn't saw it. Maybe he immediately removed it without looking at his face before washing it. Kung ako nga na hindi na tiningnan at basta na lang hinugasan ang muka ako, sure akong ganoon rin ang ginawa niya.

"Ahemm!!" I look at him when he make a fake cough. He's trying to look at me but immediately avoiding my eyes. He's opening his mouth but no words come out from it. I know he have something to say but can't say it. Bakit hindi naman niya masabi?

"May sasabihin ka ba?" tanong ko na nagpatuloy sa pagkain hoping that he will talk about it.

"Ahmmmm.... D-did you really mean it?" he asked without looking at me. So, he saw it. But why he's not talking about it earlier? I nodded and the silent filled the room again. Why did it become this awkward? Hanggang sa natapos kaming kumain ay hindi na kami umimik pa.

I suddenly felt sad. Ayaw niya ba noo kaya siya ganiyan? Magbago na ba ang usual niya? Maybe he already thought that he can't risk himself just to with me. O baka napag-isip-isip niya na hindi niya talaga ako mahal and it's just an infuation. Biglang bumigat ang pakiramdam ko. Pero mas okay na rin siguro iyon so I can't drag him to my messy world.

Matapos mahugasan ang aking pinagkainan, pumunta ako sa salas ng headquarter. I get the box of gift I recieved yesterday that I forgot to bring home. I looked for something that can give me a hint kung sino ang nagbigay nito but I found nothing. Isang maliit lang na papel kung saan nakasulat ang pangalan ko. The box was covered with a silver cover and a ribbon on top of it. I don't know where it came from and I don't have a hint who gave it. I looked at Venom who sit on the sofa opposite on where I'm sitting.

I open the box and find another small box covered with silver cover again. I furrowed. I open it again and find another box again. What the heck?! Who ever did this, I want to punch him or her for doing this. What is this? Pinagbubukas niya lang ako ng mga boxes and sa huli ay may papel kung saan nakasulat ang 'PRANK'. I want to punch him or her.

I let a deep sigh again before opening the small box. Lalo lamang nangunot ang noo ko ng buksan ang maliit na box. It's full of pieces of chocolates. Who the heck gonna give me a chocolates? Kailan pa ako nahilig sa chocolates? Ano ako bata para regaluhan ng chocolates? I really wanna punch whoever gave this. I roll my eyes and put the box of chocolates in the table in front of me. Napabuga ako ng hangin at saka sumandal sa sofa. I met Venom's eyes and for the first time, he didn't avoid it. Tinaasan ko siya ng kilay because I'm seeing a hint of smile on his face. Parang pinipigil niya ang mangiti because what he's seeing right now.

"You don't eat chocolate?" he asked getting one piece of it. I was about to answer him when I saw small box na natatabunan ng mga chocolates. Napatingin ako sa kaniya na nangunot na rin ang noo.

Meron pa palang box. Ano na naman kaya ang laman nito? I roll again my eyes before opening it. Gusot na gusot na ang noo ko dahil sa nakikita ko. A picture of mine where I was on the restaurant looking at the window and my chin lying on my hands. This was the time I got fight with that bitch. Who the heck took this?! Gusto ko sanang punitin pero narealize ko na maganda ang pagkakakuha sa akin doon. I want to give that person a punch, just one punch for taking me a picture. Just one punch. I tear it. Ayaw ko namang magtago ng mga bagay na hindi ko alam kung kanino galing. Napataas ang kilay ni Venom ng punitin ko iyon.

I get the small paper and found a silver necklace under it. It has moon pendant. Sino kayang siraulo ang nagbigay sa akin ng ganito? I open the small paper. The heck! Is this a love letter? Ilang taon na ba ang nagbigay nito? Napailing-iling na lang akong inilapag ang papel at hindi na binasa. Pinulot ko ang kwintas at umiiling-iling na isinabit ito sa gilid ng frame. Like I said earlier, I don't want to keep something that I don't know whom it came from.

"Hindi mo ba itatago? It's a gift from an admirer."

"Nope. I didn't know whom it came from. Hindi ako nagtatago ng bagay na hindi ko alam kung kanino o saan galing." I said leaning my back on the sofa. He nodded on what I said.

"Will you accept if I give you something?" he asked after a long silence. Kung sa kaniya galing, tatangapin ko dahil kilala ko naman siya.

"Well, yes. But it depends on what you will give."
