After the tour around the palace, Thor returns me to the dungeon. Loki's not in his cell when we get there, but I don't care about him anyway, especially not after this morning.
I could still feel where he'd had his hand around my throat because the collar had bruised my neck.
"The collar, is it too tight?"
He's clearly noticed the slight bruising that his brother left after a guard removes it.
"Sometimes" I lie, not wanting to cause trouble.
"I apologise for you having to remain down here, but it is simply a precautionary measure".
"It isn't too bad really. Although your brother isn't much company".
"Has he been troubling you?"
"No, not at all. So will I be seeing you again tomorrow?"
"I would like that very much. Perhaps you could join me for dinner in the evening?"
"Are you asking me on a date, God of Thunder?" I joke to tease him.
"I would simply enjoy your company, Lady Krystal".
"Then I'd be happy to join you for dinner" I smile sweetly.
He likes a good girl, like the kind of woman I used to be before my life went to shit, so that's exactly what I'll give him.
"Until tomorrow then" he smiles back as he walks away, but soon crosses paths with Loki who is being brought back in.
"So brother, how was she? Satisfactory or disappointing?"
"Mind how you speak in my presence, Loki".
"Or you will do what? Lock me away in another cell?"
"All those luxuries that mother has provided can quite easily be removed, your books included".
"You do know the witch is merely attempting to use you. She does not truly desire you, it is all an act of deception".
Oh my god, he's such an asshole.
"Oh I see what this is. The one woman you desire is the one you cannot hope to have?"
"I can have any maiden I desire sent to my cell at any time, you know that".
"But not her. You cannot stand the idea of another man spending time with her because you are drawn to power, and hers far outweighs your own".
"She is no different than any other woman and if I wanted her then I could have had her this very morning. Although I must say brother, she does look rather appetising with a hand around her throat. Although I am certain you will find that out for yourself soon enough".
"Take him back to his cell" Thor instructs the guards.
Loki's eyes stay on me the entire time his collar is being removed. He knows for a fact that I heard everything he just said about me to Thor, so I believe he's trying to get under my skin.
"You shouldn't antagonise him. You wouldn't want to lose all your precious books".
"Believe me, witch, that was entirely for your benefit, not mine".
"What do you mean?"
"Now that he believes I want you, he will desire you that much more just so he can gloat about it once he has you"
"And why are you so suddenly willing to help me after this morning?"
"Do not mistake my actions for kindness. I am simply doing this for my own selfish reasons. You have become an annoyance to me and the sooner you are gone from that cell the better, witch".
Liar.
"So you don't like having your hand around my throat?"
"I most certainly do, but the next time that happens I will not hesitate to choke the life out of you".
"That's such a pity".
"Why?"
"I rather enjoyed wearing your hand as a necklace" I tease him.
"My brother would not appreciate that method of seduction you often use".
"I know he doesn't. He wants a sweet, unassuming, starry eyed princess he can take care of, right?"
"Well you are quite the little actress, so it should be no problem for you".
Time to piss this guy off I think.
"You however, crave something else entirely. To manipulate and wield power in the palm of your hand so it'll obey you alone. That's why you like the company of whores, because you have all the power and they're so easily subjugated".
"You know nothing of what I crave".
"You've grown bored of them though, haven't you? Under that cold exterior you want so desperately to be challenged, to share power and not be the one who controls it. You want to lose yourself in another".
"What would you know of it?"
"I know what that feels like. You're lonely, Loki".
He remains silent. The overconfident, arrogant god Loki has a weakness and I'd just uncovered it.
