The first thing that I'm aware of is the excruciating pain throughout my entire body and the sounds of muffled voices, only lessened by the ringing in my ears.I know I'm not alone because when I open my eyes, even through my blurred vision, I can see the vague silhouettes of at least two men standing above me.
"Can you hear us?" one voice asks.
"Where did she come from?" another voice questions.
"Where am I?" I finally ask in confusion, while I rub what appears to be pieces of debris off of my face.
"Greenwich Village in New York" I hear.
"How did I get here?" I groan and attempt to lift myself up.
"You fell from the sky. Do you not remember?"
"The sky? What are you talking about?"
When my vision finally comes into focus, I notice the giant hole in the ceiling above where I am that's also through the roof above that. There's even water pouring down onto us from damaged water pipes.
"Can you move?" he offers me his hand and I hesitantly take it.
Once I'm lifted up, I can see that I was laying in a large hole in the ground. I must've fallen off of the roof or something?
"Are you okay, are you hurt?"
"I think I hurt my everything" I laugh a little even through the pain.
"What's your name?"
"My name?"
"Yes, your name, what is it?" the other adds.
I'm suddenly struck with the most horrible sense of nothingness. I try desperately to remember my name, or anything else for that matter before I woke up here, but there's nothing there.
"I...I don't know it" I start crying uncontrollably at that realisation.
"Do you remember anything at all?"
"No. What is this place, how did I get here?"
"You're in The Sanctum. Wong, could you make her some tea to calm her down?"
He wraps a jacket around my shoulders and guides me over to a nearby chair in front of a fireplace. I finally take a good look at this stranger now that I'd wiped my tears away and notice that he has a kind face.
"My name is Dr Stephen Strange".
"You're a doctor?"
"I was, yes" he smiles.
"What did the other man mean when he said I fell from the sky?"
"Exactly that".
"Did I fall through that hole in the roof?" I ask, looking up at it again.
"More like a mystical portal from another world".
"Are you saying I'm and alien?"
"I don't know who or what you are just yet, but I'm guessing you must've been sent here for a reason".
"I'm really scared" I confess to him.
It's an oddly terrifying feeling to know what everything is around me, yet somehow know absolutely nothing about who I am.
Whatever my life had been before I woke up in this place was seemingly gone now and I was a complete stranger even to myself.
