It takes me a while, but I finally manage to get all of the blood stains out of his clothes and get them looking clean again before I put them outside to dry, along with his cloak.

While he's upstairs getting showered, I even clean and polish his boots too, which is really the least I could do for him after he nearly died trying to save me last night.

"What are you doing?" he asks, finding me still polishing them when he comes back downstairs.

"Your clothes are clean and drying outside now, so I figured I'd give these a once over".

"You are not a servant girl".

"No, but I do owe you one. How do you feel, by the way?"

"Rather weak".

"You lost a lot of blood. I wouldn't exactly be surprised if you felt like that for the next few days".

"Your healing powers are rather strong for a witch. Even Asgardian healers cannot fully heal".

"I can't replace blood though. Do you want something to eat, it might make you feel better?"

"Thank you".

While I'm busy in the kitchen, I cry quietly to myself the entire time, not knowing whether I should call Stephen or Wong for help or not.

I definitely go overboard with the amount of food I decide to make for him.

While Loki's sitting at the table eating breakfast, which he seems to be enjoying, I clean the dark blood stains from the couch where he'd slept.

I'm really hoping that cleaning up blood like this won't be a regular occurrence.

"Thank you. The food was quite delicious".

"You're welcome. All of your clothes should be dry by now so I'll get that tear sewn up for you".

"You have not slept all evening, have you?"

Definitely not.

"Who needs sleep when there's a bounty on my head?" I laugh.

"If you do not rest then you will be far too exhausted to train".

"I can't sleep. Every time I close my eyes all I can see is blood everywhere" I sigh.

"I can use magic to help you get some rest".

"Fine, but only if it'll get you off my back".

We walk upstairs to my room and he instructs me to lay down, which is kind of weird, but I'm assuming that he wouldn't want me to fall asleep standing up.

I close my eyes as his fingertips gently caress my forehead and I gradually begin to feel tired. When I hear him slowly backing away from the bed, I don't know why, but I grab his hand.

Having him around made me feel a lot safer, but at the same time, more afraid than I'd ever felt before.

I continue holding his hand until I inevitably drifted to sleep. It was a small comfort knowing that I wasn't alone out here anymore.

When I wake up a few hours later, feeling far less fatigued, I go downstairs to grab his clothes from outside, finding only his torn shirt and cloak there. Even his boots are gone.

He must've left, but I get to work on sewing the material anyway while I sit by the lake outside waiting for him to return. Once I've finished, I go to head back inside when I see him coming through the trees shirtless.

I look away, trying to hide the fact that my cheeks are flushed at the sight of his bare skin and tussled hair. Up until this point the only man I'd ever seen shirtless was Steve, but this guy had an incredible body.

"Where have you been?" I ask him.

"I went out to bury the bodies and I did not wish to wake you".

"Oh, right. Well I fixed your shirt so you can just go ahead and put that back on now" I thrust it in his direction, not even looking at him.

"Thank you. I will take my leave of you now".

"What? You aren't staying?"

"Thor was clear in his instruction that I should keep my distance whenever possible and he would certainly not approve of my training you".

"So why did you offer?"

"Ravagers do not care if you fight with honour as those sorcerers have taught you. As you have witnessed, they will cut you down the moment your back is turned without hesitation".

"Then you can stay here and start training me first thing in the morning".

"I cannot stay here with you".

"I wasn't asking. There's a gym inside that we can use to train in and three spare bedrooms, so just take your pick. Now get your ass back in the house because I'm making dinner".

"You are still a stubborn little witch" he sighs.

"Maybe I'm just instinctively stubborn when it comes to you, Loki?"

"That we can agree upon, but do not believe for a moment that I will go easy on you simply because you saved my life".

"I wouldn't have it any other way".
