Chapter 13.1

"Sherry is 4 and a half months pregnant!"

The news dropped like a bombshell and I felt my heart sink to rock bottom and jump right out of my ribcage after, with both happiness and fear!

"OMG!" Juvi shouted and Gray and Tyler ran to hug Sherry and pushed Nathan aside in the process.

It was a funny scene but I wasn't able to enjoy it.

"So wait, you weren't gaining weight? I mean you were but that's not your potbelly but actually a baby?" Tyler's voice had never been so chirpy but it also felt ever so slightly lonely.

"Hey! I didn't gain weight!" Sherry complained as she lightly bonked Tyler on his head and then ruffled his hair into a mess.

"Hol' up! How come you guys didn't tell us sooner?" Gray skeptically asked as if they were trying to hide the fact that she was pregnant.

"It's not like we were trying to hide it." Nathan tried to explain with his goofy to-be-father smile but Sherry continued,

"We didn't realize it ourselves." she laughed awkwardly as she continued, "I felt the symptoms pretty late and before that, we both were too busy to have noticed anything."

Sherry smiled kindly as she slowly turned to look at me.

My legs were frozen in their tracks as I aimlessly gazed at them, and without me even realizing it, tears trickled down my cheeks.

Nathan almost immediately rushed to my side.

"Hey, are you alright Vivy?" He looked as bewildered as I was!

But more concerned by his little sister's breakdown.

Tyler, Juvi, and Gray stood in their places for a minute before they finally decided to move.

Oh Damn!

Speak up Vivy you dummy!

Say something!

Anything!

Congratulations!

I thought as I tried to articulate my words.

Is this dread?

Is this happiness?

What is this overwhelming feeling?

As I tried to speak, tears kept flowing down my cheeks as my voice choked, and I desperately tried to wipe them away so as to not create a misunderstanding and smile awkwardly but I think I just freaked everyone out.

Suddenly amidst the blur of my teary eyes and chaotic thoughts and everyone's perplexed faces, I found myself in a warm embrace.

Sherry's heart thumped serenely as she breathed in and out. My head leaned against her bosom and her slender arms, strong yet, gently pulled me in and carefully caressed my head.

Her sweet peony fragrance filled my heart with joy and comfort to the brim making me burst into tears and only a single thought crossed my mind,

I will protect their happiness at all costs!

After bawling my eyes for a couple of minutes I finally spoke softly in a hoarse voice, "*Sniff* *Sniff* Congrats! *Sniff* *Sniff* I'm so happy bah . . . *Sniff* . . .but I'm crying like an idiot!"

"I know. We know." She patted my back gently.

"What is this Vivy? You'll make your big brother cry too! *Sniff* "
