After I cried for some time, I remembered I had to go back home when I received a text message from Gray.
"Where are you?"
I replied to him saying I was leaving and asked Lucy if it was alright to leave. She nodded and I bid farewell to John who looked very apologetic. I was hoping today would end on a good note before Hazel walked in but I guess not.
No!
I shouldn't walk away like this. If I can do even one person right today.
"John, thank you for letting me know Hazel is alive and well. I'll see you at the wedding and I'm looking forward to you walking Lucy down the aisle." I hugged him affectionately and he reciprocated the gesture as he felt thankful for my words.
"Yes. I look forward to it too! Thank you. I truly am grateful. And I'm really sorry for hurting you in any way until now." He didn't explain much but I pat his shoulder before we exchanged our goodbyes for now.
The drive for the most part was silent until Lucy broke the ice, " I'm sorry. I'm really sorry for what my family put you through."
"You don't need to apologize Lucy. It's not your fault. I'm glad I met you though!" I tried to console her and tried to distract her mind.
"So have you decided on a dress? You should consult Juvi if you're having trouble." I smiled at her kindly.
"No. Not yet." she smiled nervously but quickly tried to change the topic.
"But yes. I think I'll consult Juvi! Also, I was surprised to see you living separately. I hope you get back together with your family soon! Oh and I was thinking of inviting them all to the wedding! Is-Is it alright?"
Hmm?
Why does she sound so nervous?
"Of course, you can! I'm not fighting with them per se. It's just me taking some time and space to sort out my own feelings. And it's your wedding dear, you are free to call anyone who's close to you! If you want I can hand them the invitations if you're too busy." I offered but she politely refused.
"No, I'll hand them over in person maybe tomorrow or this weekend. It's been a while since I've met them and Genny too! I bet she's grown up quite a bit~"
She sounds chipper again.
That's good!
We spoke about Genny at length and the others the rest of the way until I reached my place.
"Thanks for the ride," I waved at her before turning around to leave when she called out to me.
"Vivy if you ever wanna talk about anything, I'm just a phone call away. Okay?"
"Yeah." I smiled.
What a good kid.
* MY APARTMENT *
It was almost evening when I returned and the apartment was dark when I opened the door.
Guess he returned home. I better text him I'm home.
As soon as I looked down to check my phone I found myself within a pair of arms and almost shrieked from the scare of something wrapping around me in the dark.
When I turned the doorway lights on it was Gray.
I closed the door behind me and asked him to let go for a minute but he just wouldn't.
Geez, Gray!
"Gray?" I tapped his arm but he squeezed me tighter instead.
"Ugh! Gray, you're squishing me."
