* Third Person's p.o.v. *
The clouds had covered the sky by lunchtime even though it was the beginning of spring.
A very neatly dapper and elegant Carmel sat across from Tyler as she ate lunch. She had worn a brick orange body-con dress. Despite her hair being a similar color it still suited her very well.
Tyler couldn't stomach much food as he thought, "How should I break it to her?"
"Is the food not your liking?" she asked innocently, looking a little worried.
"Oh no, it's good. I just don't have much appetite today. Didn't have my share of Gray's breakfast after all." Tyler tried to crack a joke but the context was off which made Tyler question his skills to keep others company even more.
"So the wedding is on..." Carmel went on with the one-sided conversation anyway in her desperate attempts to try and make this second date work out but somewhere in her heart, she could sense the imminent rain coming home soon.
After lunch, she tried to drag Tyler on foot to a nearby dessert shop she wanted to visit but he caught her hand to make her stop as both their hearts thumped knowing what was coming.
Tyler exhaled deeply before calling her out, "Carmel listen, we need to—"
But he was interrupted by Carmel's sudden outburst, "Not yet! You promised."
Her face twisted in pain and so did Tyler's heart.
He knew it was gonna end up this way but he still went ahead with the whole charade. Even if he was helping her out as a friend, somewhere deep down he was using this as an opportunity too, to make Vivy jealous but he couldn't go on any longer knowing he was being insincere and that it would only hurt Carmel in the end even more.
"Listen, I can't pretend to go on a date with someone when I have another person on my mind. That just feels wrong. I did it as a friend because you asked me but I think it was poor judgment on my part." Tyler tried to reason with her in the middle of the sidewalk under a rumbling sky as the perfect setting for an ending.
"What do you mean by poor judgment?" She angrily looked at him while he still held her by the wrist.
"Don't get me wrong. I shouldn't have accepted it in the first place when I knew how it was gonna end.....How I'd end up hurting you. I'm guilty of many things and I don't want to add another one to the list. I can't keep deceiving you."
He hung his head low in shame.
"Is it because of Vivy?" Carmel asked him directly without batting an eye but he couldn't meet hers.
"Yeah."
A loud thunder rumbled in the sky as if reflecting Carmel's heart breaking and her anger boiling up to her head when she blurted out the words she was sure to regret later.
"Even though she can't see a future between the two of you. You'd still want to pursue something that has no other ending but demise?"
Tyler finally looked at her but with confusion and fear in his eyes which somehow gave her temporary satisfaction.
* PITTER PATTER *
The rain started pouring and they both stood there frozen.
Tyler because he couldn't comprehend what Carmel had just spoken.
Carmel cause she needed something to cover up her falling tears.
"What do you mean? What do you mean by 'no future'?" Tyler lightly squeezed her wrist without realizing and she pulled her hand out of his grip angrily.
