Lust for Love

Chapter 16

A black SUV was already parked at the gate with engines ready. John opened the door as I sat in without giving Jacob a second glance or a kiss and soon we were on our way.

It was already 5:15 AM and I needed to hurry back home.

"John please hurry up!" I panicked.

"Yes miss," John complied.

After a long pause, John abruptly spoke up, "Miss do you wish to leave Master?"

I don't know what's he thinking but, "I didn't say I'm breaking up. I just want some time to myself." I said.

"I understand if Miss is upset from what happened yesterday. Sometimes Master Jacob can be very passionate, to the point of obsession but that's just how he's able to show his love. I guess you can say his environment and the examples set forth for him weren't the ideal way of loving. But he really does cherish you from the bottom of his heart." John tried to justify Jacob's behavior.

"But that doesn't justify the archaic way of punishing someone so brutally." I pointed out.

"I agree. I tried to pacify his displeasure upon finding out lady Lucy helped you with the birth control pills but he was just so desperate to create a family with you that he was blinded by his ambition." John surprisingly sided with me on that as he continued, "He probably never received proper love to understand how to give all that love he has packed inside his heart. And similarly, so he doesn't understand the meaning of moderation."

Is John actually criticizing Jacob for a change? Well I listened quietly as I had already expended a lot of energy.

"He craves your love more than anything as he mentioned how you were the first person to accept him the way he was. Since the lady of the house left when Master was quite young to understand. He had harbored the misunderstanding that the Lady had abandoned him for quite some time until he was old enough to understand the complexities of adulthood." John narrated Jacob's childhood to me like a bedtime story as we sped through the streets at the crack of dawn.

"Young Master's Father often spent time overseas or out of the house and seldom stayed overnight as he buried himself in work. Until that Summer trip 16 years ago with your family where he finally - " John abruptly stopped, "Nevermind, you've arrived Miss." I wonder what happened back then?

"Thank you, John." I got out of the car but before I turned around to leave John requested a peculiar wish.

"Miss, please don't leave Master alone for too long. He may seem impulsive or erratic at times but he loves you dearly. But I fear the distance between you both for prolonged periods of time might make the Master anxious and provoke that impulsive nature of his." John was genuinely worried but that doesn't justify anything.

"John a relationship goes both ways. I understand he may not have had the best environment while growing up nor the best ideals to look up to but he's just as human as I am. He can try and change for the sake of the person he cares about, can he not? Just as I can try and understand his insecurities and embrace his emotions."

Easier said than done though, I quite well understand.

John nodded obediently as if he understood his task of relaying my words to Jacob, although that wasn't my intention I could sense a hesitation in his intention.

I know it's difficult for people to change that easily and it's just as hard to change someone else.

* DOOR OPENS *

I slowly opened the door, I was relieved no one had woken up yet until the voicemail beeped loudly,

"You have one voice mail! "
