Chapter 40

* WYATT RESIDENCE NEXT MORNING *

* Third Person's p.o.v. *

Nobody wanted to wake up on Monday mornings but for the Wyatts and Grants, it was especially difficult.

"I should call Tyler's office and let them know he won't be able to come to work for some time. I should probably call in to ask for a few days off for Sherry too. Nash said Vivy's workplace would be taken care of by Lucy and John, I wonder who they are and why are they helping her. I was too shocked to ask about them." Nathan pondered staring at the ceiling while Sherry slept leaning against him.

* FAINT SOUNDS IN THE KITCHEN *

"Did Gray wake up?" Nathan carefully replaced himself with a pillow, so as to not wake Sherry up.

"He didn't even look at me yesterday let alone talk. And he didn't even eat. He must be really mad at me."

* DOOR OPENS *

Gray quietly worked on preparing breakfast and was lost in his thoughts.

"Mo-Mornin'" Nathan tried to speak to him but Gray kept ignoring him.

"Geez, I feel like a husband who cheated on his wife and now walking on eggshells around him."

"Gray?" Nathan tried to call out to him again from a distance but no response.

"Oh! Good morning," Juvi greeted Nathan and Gray.

"Good morning," Nathan and Gray both spoke in sync but Gray immediately averted his gaze from him.

Juvi awkwardly smiled.

"Why are you so angry right now?" Nathan couldn't understand why Gray was so angry at him. He thought it was because of what happened to Vivy and that he couldn't protect her but that was only half of the reason.

Gray kept ignoring Nathan until he apologized, "Alright I'm sorry, I'm sorry I couldn't protect them. I'm sorry Vivy...she...she's hurt because of me."

Nathan groaned as he tried his best not to cry.

* THUD * * THUD * * PUNCH *

Gray punched a self-wallowing Nathan in the face.

"Gray!" Juvi cried.

"Ah!." Nathan groaned as he tasted blood from the cut in his mouth.

"Whadya hit me for?"

"Is that all you have to say?" Gray roared.

"I said I'm sorry. You don't think I know how pathetic I am for getting Vivy and Tyler in.....?" Gray punched him again in the gut and before he could land a second, Nathan stopped his fist the third time.

"Stop punching me." but Gray used his other hand to punch him in the side.

"That hurts."

"That hurts," Nathan felt his suppressed anger boil in him when he retaliated and punched Gray back so hard he fell, toppling over a couple of chairs.

Gray bled from his mouth a little too.

Juvi was shocked to see the two brothers fighting like that but both of them were too angry to notice and continued exchanging their fists.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to," Nathan panicked a little as he tried to reach out to help him but instead got tackled by Gray onto the ground and punched in the face.

"Argh! Stop that's enough," Nathan caught both his hands and pushed him aside, but Gray was far from done and kicked Nathan on the other side.

Nathan was thoroughly pissed by Gray's barbaric action, "I said stop."
