Oh, shoot someone's coming. Need to look okay. completely normal.
"Hey, Vivylyn!" Kai walked into the balcony, "I heard from James. Congrats on the project and I'm a little sad, you won't be working any longer under me."
He made a puppy face but something felt off when he asked me as he held my upper arm near my shoulder, "Didn't you try and convince him?"
"Ah hahaha, I feel sad too. Well, I was so nervous thinking he might be firing me today. But I really hope your new subordinates are good and let me know if I can help in any way." His grip tightened a little but Hazel's big mouth finally came to use when she called out to me.
"Vivylyn! I think I deleted the files by mistake. Can you take a look? Oh no! Hi Kai. Nothing's wrong. Although, am I interrupting something?" Hazel sneered a little, but soon Kai let go of me.
What was that all about I wondered as I walked towards Hazel.
"Hey Vivylyn, don't worry, Mrs. Potts is really nice too, except a little strict sometimes." Kai winked at me as I returned a smile before heading inside.
Maybe I was overthinking it.
Maybe it was just a friendly way of asking casually? Yeah, I mean come on he's a pretty sweet guy!
But that's what I thought about Jacob too at first.
Man this isn't right!
I'm constantly scrutinizing Jacob in my mind.
This isn't what a girlfriend should do, right?
I wish I had someone to talk to about it. But anyway it doesn't hurt to exercise a little caution. And a little suspicion?
"Hey what was that?" Hazel asked me.
"Nothing, he just came to congratulate me. Oh yeah! Hazel listen to this, I get to lead a new project!" Hazel congratulated me back but I could sense a slight hesitation.
Well, it's only natural that would provoke her competitive side but well, in a way it's good too!
A little healthy competition wouldn't hurt.
"So, what's really going on between you and Kai?" she asked me again, although not with the same fun smirk, but a more serious expression.
"OMG! Hazel, do you have a crush on Kai?" That definitely got me excited!
"Shush!" she shushed me as we walked to her desk. "Hey! Not so loud!"
"Uh huh! Now you understand my pain." I smirked back at her for a change.
"So since when?" I tried digging for the deets!
"No, it's nothing like that!" she denied, as she whispered about it but it was still pretty loud. Well, it was cute too looking at her acting all coy and shy when talking about him.
"So really? Nothing happened?" she asked me again.
"No, you idiot! Nothing happened! I just consider him a friend. Also, I have a boyfriend you know that right?"
"Well, ofc you have Jacob. Why would you even look at somebody else?" Huh?
"How do you know Jacob?" I asked.
"You told me of course, you dummy!" she averted her eyes toward the computer as she pretended to be busy.
Wait, I never told her or anyone at the company about Jacob.
