.Zaina.
"Yeah, I already got my plane ticket. The only one on Saturday is at 5am, so I'll be leaving early." I responded to Namjoon's question as we ate. I decided on a ramen that I couldn't pronounce while he decided on some kind of meat dish.
"That was the only one? Well I guess Friday is your last day then." He sounded kinda sad to sigh that out. "The guys were telling me that all of them wanted to come to the airport with you. If that was okay?"
"Ion know, it'll be kinda early when you guys all have jobs."
"We don't know when we're gonna see you again, so we all want to tell you goodbye." He nodded.
"I'll keep in contact dude. I got your numbers now, and you got mine. We can plan another meetup soon. But until then, we can still FaceTime and call." I smiled with a gentle shrug. He took another bite, looked away, and nodded. His response seemed weird, like we won't be keeping in contact after this, it threw me off so I had to speak about it. "Your face is telling me that you don't think we'll meet up again." I mumbled. His eyes went wide and he stared at me, struggling to swallow his food so he can speak.
"No, no!" He quickly denied. "Of course we will. I-I was just thinking of something else. But I already told you that I'm never letting you go. Unless you decide to leave, I'm not going anywhere." He smiled with a glimmer of sadness behind his eyes. "I will miss you though..." His voice was a little bit softer now as the pain in his tone was no longer hidden.
"Let's change the subject. You should never eat sad because you'll never feel full." I tsked and playfully shook my head. A sincere smile creeped onto his cheeks again and I saw the joy return to his eyes. "Better." I nodded.
"How are you liking the food?"
"I don't know what it is, but it's fire." I chuckled.
"Black bean noodles, it's one of the most favored foods of our culture. It's also Tae's favorite food, he literally eats it everyday,"
"Everyday? Lucky. This is- see usually I hate like soggy noodles. Like I eat my ramen before it soaks up the water but while it's still coated in the seasoning. Like if it don't got a crunch to it, I don't want it. I'd rather starve." We both laughed. "But don't get me wrong, noodles like spaghetti and fettuccini, those gotta have the soggiest of noodles in order for it to be palatable for me, ya know."
"What is palatable?" He tilted his head.
"It's like a, please my tastebuds, kinda thing. Like when people say 'cleanse my palate' and they actually mean to clean their tongue, to enjoy the entirety of a new taste, ya know?"
"I get it, I get it." He nodded. "Have you ever thought about teaching English over here? You're really good at explaining stuff."
"Me? Pfft." I laughed. "Dude I don't play with other people kids. Like don't get me wrong, kids are cool sometimes. When they're not near me. And I know I'll love my own, but not other people kids." I jokingly denied.
"You can teach anywhere from kindergarten to high school." He chuckled.
"Definitely not teenagers. My little sister is like 15 and she's already the most annoying little- I keep telling my mom to get her daughter because if she wakes up with her band albums gone, I'll be in trouble!" I rambled on, having to put my chopsticks down to get my point across.
"So it's just you, your mom, and your sister?" He smiled softly, that familiar fond look in his eyes. It made me a little shy.
"W-well I do got a brother on my dad's side, he's closer to my age. My dad's side love to throw family reunions and barbecues and stuff so he's usually the one that invites me and my sister."
"Your mom doesn't go?"
"You know, they're separated and stuff. They don't talk like that. But don't get me wrong, my mom's side do be bussin tho. It's her side that usually invites us out to like water parks and movies and stuff. Issa balance." I smiled.
"That sounds like so much fun." He leaned on his hand with his eyes stuck on mine as he chewed.
"If you ever get any time off work, it'd be mad fun to bring you. Just text me when you're flying in and I'll meet you at the airport." I playfully winked.
"Meet your family?" His eyebrows raised.
"That ain't happening unless you put a ring on it." I joked. "But just us two can hang, yeah."
"I can't meet your family unless I propose." He laughed to himself.
"Not all rings marriage related, there's other kinds of rings." I rolled my eyes and returned to my meal.
"Promise rings?" I looked away as not to give a definite answer. He looked down as well. "Do you want to?" His voice was softer. I was shocked to hear that, since I wasn't expecting him to agree with the idea.
"Y-you know what the rings mean right?" I tilted my head.
"Mhm." He nodded. "So do you want to get them?"
I couldn't wrap my head around this. He wants to promise himself to me? This amazing, handsome, mentally stable man wants to promise himself... to me?
"We can talk about them more the next time we meet because if we're getting them, I'm getting yours custom made." He's so damn smooth. I'm still speechless.
"N-Namjoon..." I watched him reach for my hands, looking at them closely before focusing specifically on my left hand.
"Size 4?" He glanced up at me.
"My ring finger?" My eyes went wide when he nodded and intertwined his fingers with mine. "H-how did you guess?"
"I'm right? Your hands are small, but your fingers are long and slender. They remind me of Hoseok's. Just doing a little bit of math if your hands are about half the size of his, a size 4 would make sense for your ring fingers." His dimples deepened as he looked at our hands together. "I'm a size 9 I think."
I'm wet. Not only is he tall, he's handsome, he's charming, he's caring, he's kind, he's comforting, he's cute, he's clumsy, aND NOW HES A GENIUS TOO.
"I suppose I should stop talking, you haven't said much in a while. I don't want to overwhelm you." He gave my hand a squeeze.
I'm in fucking love.
