3rd Person Pov:

(Y/N)

Laughing, the small girl grabbed her brother's hand, starting to run around their village. "Come on, Shinya-nii! Don't be so slow!" Her brother let out a chuckle, quickly picking her up and placing her on his shoulders.

"Better like this?" he asked, grinning as she clapped her hands together, a series of giggles erupting from her. "Let's go buy what mom told us to." he declared, making her nod, her hands resting on top of his messy, light red locks.

She was humming as they entered a store that sold pretty much everything they could think of. Shinya put his little sister down, walking towards the corner that had the requested items he needed.

(Y/N) strolled after him, stopping once they passed an aisle filled with different swords. Her eyes landed on a certain sword. It was like it was calling out to her. She slowly walked up to it, reaching her hand out to touch it.

The sword was beautifully crafted, yet there were signs of use on it. But that didn't matter to her. She grabbed the heavy sword, almost dropping it in the process. Her eyes were glued on the blade itself, already knowing that its color would change.

The blade took a beautiful, red color, making her tilt her head a little. "Didn't it turn blue the first time?" she asked herself, lifting the sword with both hands. She dragged it all the way over to the cashier, who looked at her in confusion.

"I want to buy this one." she told him, putting the sword on the counter. The older man stared at her, then said: "You're way too young to buy this." (Y/N) said: "But I'm 14 already. Besides, I fight with a sword all the time."

"What are you talking about, kid? You're, like what, six years old? You can't even carry it around!" he stated, making her look back at the sword. Just what was she thinking? She's eight. Not 14. How did she even get that number? Besides, she never even touched a sword before. "I'm sorry." she said, leaving the store.

She started to wander around the town, until she spotted a familiar Haori. She stopped for a second, then ran towards that person. "Tanjiro!" she called out, grabbing the checkered piece of clothing. The boy turned around to face her, his dark red eyes staring straight into her (e/c) ones.

"This is a dream! You have to wake up! This isn't real!" he called, his expression serious. (Y/N) continued to stare at him. She was suddenly pulled back, another boy standing in front of her protectively. "Why the hell are you yelling at my sister?!" asked Shinya, narrowing his eyes at the stranger.

"A dream?" muttered (Y/N), never breaking her eyes away from the familiar stranger. Tanjiro continued: "You're not here! You're on a train! A Demon is attacking! Wake up! Come on, wake up! Fight it!" "Stop that!" yelled Shinya, picking his sister up before quickly leaving.

"Some people..." he muttered out, carrying her away. (Y/N) looked up at her brother, tears rising to her eyes. "Shinya-nii." she said, gaining his attention. His eyes widened as he saw her now older figure.

She was taller, her hair was longer, and her clothing was different. "(Y/N)...?" he carefully asked, putting her down. (Y/N), now her usual self, smiled gently at him, saying: "Shinya-nii... I have to go. I can't stay any longer."

Tears were flowing down her cheeks as she stepped away from him, saying: "I can't stay here. I can't stay with you and mom." "What are you talking about? And why are you suddenly so tall?" "I'm a year younger than you are at the moment. But that doesn't matter. Tell mom that I love her, okay? And I love you, Shinya-nii."

Her voice broke down as she sobbed, turning on her heels and starting to run. She couldn't bare it. It was her brother and mother that had left her that day. And now, it was her that was leaving. "Please, make this stop..." she cried out, attempting to wipe her tears away.

The boy that was in her dream hid behind a nearby house, sighing softly. He opened the gate to the realm of unconsciousness, and stepped through. At first, the light was too bright to even see, so he had to cover his eyes.

But as he was able to see again, his eyes widened. Before him was a beautiful sunset, and under him was the clearest water he had ever seen before. It felt so warm, so right to be there. But what caught his eye wasn't the beautiful, pink-ish-orange sky, no. The thing, rather, things that caught his eye where the many, many crystals.

Some were tall, others were short. Some were red, some blue, some yellow, and so on. Every color you could think of was here. He couldn't take his eyes off of the beautiful crystals. The way they were reflecting the sun was mesmerizing, hypnotic, even.

He started to wander around, turning his head a few times in order to find the spiritual core. And he found it. It was hidden behind a thick, dark red crystal. The core itself was reflecting the light even more, shining in every single color.

(Y/N) ran and ran, but she couldn't figure out how to wake up. Eventually, she tripped, falling face first into the ground. Groaning, she hit her fists onto the ground next to her head, yelling: "I want to wake up! I want to fight!"

"(Y/N)." The sudden, deep voice caught her off guard. She quickly sat up, her eyes wide. Her (e/c) eyes met a pair that had the exact same color than hers. "You're... You're... Dad?" She asked, looking at him with amazement.

The man nodded, holding a hand out to her. She immediately took it, letting him pull her up. "Dad, I... I'm so happy to see you again-" she said, but stopped, remembering that this was merely a dream.

This isn't real.

"(Y/N), you have to trust yourself." he told her, making her sigh in frustration. "I know. I know that. But what in the world am I supposed to do? How can I wake up? I want to open my eyes and be in the real world again. With Tanjiro, Nezuko, Rengoku-Sensei, and everyone else. This is just cruel!"

She closed her eyes, tightening her hands into fists. "I don't want to leave everyone I lost behind... I want nothing more than to stay here, be with Shinya-nii, mom, and you. But I can't. You're all dead. You're gone. And until I die, we can never be together. I..."

She sobbed, starting to wipe her tears away. Her father firmly grabbed her shoulders, saying: "Listen to me, (Y/N). You can wake up. Just cut the thread, as always. As hard as it may be this time, I believe in you. You have my blood running through your veins, after all."

He let out a small chuckle, then smiled at her, saying: "You have friends to take care of now. Keep them safe at all costs. Do whatever you have to do, (Y/N)." He then motioned towards a puddle of water next to her.

She slowly looked into it, seeing the red thread connecting to her own neck. "I have to..." she muttered, then nodded. Quickly grabbing her sword, she smiled at her father, saying: "I get it now. Thank you, dad." He returned her smile as she lifted her blade up to her neck, taking a deep breath before cutting it.
