(Y/N) Pov:

"Huh? A sword?" I asked, while Tanjiro and Kotetsu were freaking out completely. Tanjiro called: "Something came out! K-Kotetsu-kun, something came out! What is it?!" "Well, I have no idea either. What is it?!"

I looked at them for a moment, then said: "It must be a 300 year old sword. At least it looks like that to me." My statement, however, did not help calm the two down one bit. Instead, they grew even more hyped.

"I can't stop getting excited!" "Yeah! Tanjiro-san, you can take it! P-Please, take it!" said Kotetsu, motioning for him to do as he said. Tanjiro, being the kind soul he is, said: "No, no, no, no. I can't. The doll became worn down from years of attacks. It just happened to break when it was our turn."

"Tanjiro-san, (Y/N)-san, you were in trouble since your swords weren't getting forged, right? Then go ahead. I own it, so I get the say." said Kotetsu, proudly placing his hands onto his hips. Tilting my head a little, I said: "But, Kotetsu, there's two of us and only one sword. Besides, I'm not sure if it could withstand the constant switching of breathing techniques from me. So, I think it would be best for Tanjiro to take."

"No, I can't take it." stated Tanjiro, but it was as clear as sunlight that he really, really wanted that sword. Chuckling, I said: "Go on. It's yours." "Really?" he asked, looking at me, then at Kotetsu. Kotetsu nodded, saying: "Metal forged during the Sengoku era is of really good quality. Take it."

"You sure?" asked Tanjiro, just to clarify. The happiness on his face was making me smile, too. He then went to grab the sword, asking: "Should I pull it out?" I nodded at him, while Kotetsu said: "Yeah, I wanna see it!"

With much hesitation, he went to grab the sword, taking in a deep breath. "Here I go." he said, taking the sword out of the doll. Tanjiro brought the sword over to us, happily sitting down. Kotetsu and I did the same, eagerly waiting for him to unsheathe the sword.

"Please be in good condition... Please be in good condition..." I prayed, my eyes practically glued to the sword. "Here goes nothing." mumbled Tanjiro, pulling the sword out of its sheathe. And...

"It rusted..." I said, all three of us dropping to the ground. "Well, it has been 300 years... And nobody got their hands on it. In fact, nobody even knew about it. Sorry for getting you worked up over nothing..." trailed Kotetsu off, looking at Tanjiro.

I, too, lifted myself off the ground, looking at Tanjiro, who was now crying, saying: "It's okay! Don't worry about it!" "T-Tanjiro..." I said, not liking the sight of him like that. "Hey, it's fine." I said, placing my hand onto his shoulder.

Suddenly, someone approached us, causing all of us to look to our left due to some strange sound. My eyes widened as I tightened my grip on Tanjiro, saying: "No way..." He, too, was shocked at who was approaching us.

"Waah! Haganezuka-san?!" he called out, the shock and surprise clear on his face. "I heard everything... Leave it to me." said Haganezuka-san, like we all knew what was going on. Confused, I asked: "Leave what to you, exactly?"

Without any kind of warning, he stepped closer to us, trying to pry the rusted sword from Tanjiro. "Wh-What is happening?" I asked, stepping to the side. Kotetsu jumped at Haganezuka-san, saying: "You can't have that sword!"

"Please let go! Wait, why are you even trying to take it?!" asked Tanjiro, to which Haganezuka-san repeated himself. "Leave it... to me." "No, this is Kotetsu-kun's!" "Leave it-" "Please tell us, Haganezuka-san! Leave what?!" asked Kotetsu, just to get no answer.

Having finally heard enough of those questions, Haganezuka-san ripped the sword out of their grasp and threw the two of them to the ground, saying: "I'm telling you, leave it to me!" "That's not what adults should do!" called Tanjiro, looking up at the masked man.

Then, out of nowhere, another masked man appeared and started to tickle Haganezuka-san's sides, saying: "Boys, Haganezuka's weakpoint is his sides. Aim for around here." Kotetsu said: "Ah,Kanamori-san! It's been a while."

"Hello there, Kotetsu, Tanjiro-kun, (Y/N)-chan. I'll explain what happened just now." said the man, waving politely at us. "Please do. I have no clue what that just was." I said, a bit overwhelmed by this situation. This was more chaotic than every fight we ever had...

Kanamori-san said: "Please forgive the man. He was training in the mountains." "I will deal with the rusted blade. Allow me to refine it with my Nichirin polishing skills that the Haganezuka line has passed down for generations." said Haganezuka-san, pointing at the blade.

Kotetsu, placing his hands onto his hips, said: "Then you could have just said that from the get-go. You keep saying 'trust me',even though you don't try and establish mutual trust. You just keep repeating it again and again and-" Suddenly, Haganezuka-san lifted Kotetsu into the air, obviously mad.

Time skip: the next day

3rd Person Pov:

"So that happened yesterday. And I heard it'll take three days and three nights to finish. That's why he'll be done the day after tomorrow." said Tanjiro, stuffing his mouth with rice crackers that were provided to the young Demon Slayers.

He continued saying his thoughts out loud. "He also said his methods are so severe that people have died using them. I'm kinda worried. And he told me not to check on him. Ever. But should I?"

Glaring at the kind boy, Genya said: "I don't care! Get out, dammit! Don't talk to me like I'm your friend!" "But aren't we all friends? We're all Demo Slayers, after all." asked (Y/N), taking a sip of her tea.

To that, Genya turned his head to look away from her, mumbling curse words under his breath. Tanjiro tried another few times to get his fellow Demon Slayer to talk, to no avail. In the end, Genya shoved Tanjiro out of the room, saying: "Get out and fuck off!"

"Why is he so mad all the time? Maybe he's hungry or something." wondered Tanjiro, looking at his partner. She shrugged as she closed the door behind her, saying: "Maybe he didn't sleep well. Who knows? Let's go have a walk with Nezuko before going to bed." At that, Tanjiro smiled, saying: "That sounds lovely."
