~chapter eighty-two~

3rd Person Pov:

Genya lost no time in shooting at the Demons. The loud sound of his gun caused Tanjiro to widen his eyes, while Nezuko ducked, not sure what that sound was. The bullets hit the first Demon, then the second, causing both of them to be decapitated. The second one only partly, though.

"Oh dude, this is fun! Awesome! I've never felt that one before." said the almost dead Demon, grinning with its head hanging upside down. Without missing a single second, Genya took out his Nichirin blade, running at the second Demon.

Tanjiro realized what was happening and yelled: "Genya, no! No matter how strong your weapons are, you can't beat them like that!" At first, Genya didn't listen. So, he cut through the remainder of that Demon's neck, successfully decapitating it, too.

However, Tanjiro's words finally sunk in as he yelled: "If you slice them, they'll just split up! They rejuvenate! And they get stronger! They let you cut them up on purpose!" Genya's eyes widened as he noticed how the Demon's body parts began to grow, creating now four Demons.

Tanjiro was thinking hard about what was happening, so much that he didn't notice the flying Demon grabbing his leg. Nezuko tried to reach out to him, but the other Demon was faster. He smiled widely, saying: "How delightful. Someone figured us out for the first time in forever."

Instead of wanting help for himself, the young Demon Slayer looked towards his sister, calling: "Nezuko, don't worry about me! Go help Genya out-" He stopped himself from talking as he saw how Genya was impaled by a polearm.

"Genya! Nezuko, go! Help Genya now! Please, go!" yelled Tanjiro, watching how Nezuko reluctantly left him. "Do you really have the time to worry about others?" asked the flying Demon, opening his mouth before letting out a deafening screech.

The sound was so loud that it caused Tanjiro's nose and ears to bleed. The Demon then dropped him, watching how he fell into the trees, saying: "Nice one. This is absolutely delightful." Tanjiro struggled greatly, but finally managed to break his fall at least a little. However, because he can't hear anything, he didn't notice the Demon that had caught up to him, about to screes just like before.

(Y/N) Pov:

"He really threw us all the way here, huh?" I said, running alongside Muichiro. "We have to get back now." he stated, to which I nodded. While we were running, I spotted someone in the distance, a bit to our left.

That's... "Kotetsu!" I called, about to rush towards him. "Saving him is low priority." said Muichiro, blocking my way. Slightly angered, I said: "What? Let me through! I have to save him!" "Judging from its presence, this isn't the real Demon. Just one of its summons." he said, refusing to let me go past him.

"Muichiro, this is ridiculous! I really don't know what to think about you!" I called, only for him to say: "If the whole village is under attack, we have to save the chief. Prioritize the more skilled ones."

Balling my hands into fists, I said: "Be serious! You're wasting time! There's a life in danger, and I'm not going to sit by and watch him die! I lost far too many people in my life already, and I'm not willing to let that number rise any further! So if you don't want to help me, move!"

Conflicted, Muichiro turned away, muttering: "Then go ahead." before running off. I didn't waste a single second to rush towards Kotetsu, using the Water Breathing, First Form, Water Surface Slash to cut through my enemy's arms. I shoved Kotetsu behind me, saying: "Go and run."

Kotetsu backed off, saying: "I'm not leaving you here alone!" "Are you- Just run! I'll be fine!" I called, swiftly cutting through the Demon's neck. However, it simply regenerated, trying to attack me already.

I dodged, then noticed the vase sitting on its back. It looks like its part of its body, even if the texture is completely different. I jumped up, easily cutting through the vase. It split into two, and the Demon began disintegrating.

That's a Blood Demon Art, huh? Using a pot to create puppet Demons. "Thank you so much! So much!" called Kotetsu, trapping me in a tight hug. I returned the hug, saying: "Of course I saved you. I'm not gonna let you die. And if you don't want to run away, then stay close to me, okay?" "Okay!"

3rd Person Pov:

Tanjiro was quick to act, cutting through the jaw of the Demon. It was out of instinct, and he regretted it as soon as he did that. The Demon regenerated both of his face's halfs, letting out two screeches.

Tanjiro was thrown back a bit, but he didn't fail to notice something vital. The Demon's attack power has dropped! He realized that if he were to split the Demon into even more parts, then they'll get even weaker.

While he pierced the two Demon parts with his sword, he suddenly got the feeling that he was being attacked from behind. Thanks to his intuition, he was able to dodge the flying Demon's attack just in time.

He was contemplating on what to do next, as the Demon suddenly charged at him at incredible speeds, leaving three, rather deep cuts across his chest. But in that same moment, the moment he was attacked, he himself unleashed an attack.

"How do you like my claws? So fast and sharp! They're so powerful they can even cut diamonds!" called the Demon, flying upside down. "Now shiver in fear. I'll carve you up into a bloody ball of joy!"

Grinning, Tanjiro turned his head, saying: "Right back at you." That simple statement caused the Demon to pause for a second. But as he did, he realized that Tanjiro had managed to slice his head in half.

He regenerated the cut almost immediately. And in that short moment, the young Demon Slayer jumped into action, cutting the jaw off the Demon's face, raising his Nichirin blade high into the air to strike again.
