I've had the idea of this book for quite some time now, and finally decided to write it down.

"M-Mommy...? Shinya...?" asked the seven year old girl, her (e/c) eyes wide in horror and confusion. The sound of a woman's scream and a cracking bone was heard, resonating deep within her.

The girl covered her ears, screaming at the top of her lungs, the sight before her more than enough to overwhelm her. "(Y-(Y/N)! Run!" yelled her older brother, Shinya. She watched in horror as he spit out a lot of blood, all while their mother was being eaten alive right next to him.

Tears streamed down her rosy cheeks as she couldn't help but to throw up on the spot, the metallic smell filling her very being. "Run away!" screamed their mother, trying to fight the demon off. But it was pointless.

Soon enough, the girl's mother wasn't moving anymore, her light blue eyes closed only halfway. "Shinya... W-We can still run together! Q-Quick-" she called, but got cut off by the demon. He rammed his sharp fangs into her brother's back, causing her to gasp, more tears rolling down her cheeks.

However, Shinya didn't scream. He tried his best to not scare his little sister even more. It was the least he could do for her now. His final hope... "Go. Go away." he told her, over and over again, putting more and more emphasize on the words he spoke.

But the girl stood her ground, shaking her head furiously. "No! I don't want to go without you! I want to-" "(Y/N)!" She stopped talking, looking at her brother through glassy eyes. Her eyes widened once more as she saw his expression.

He smiled so kindly at her, his light blue eyes filled with nothing but brotherly love. Just like he usually looked at her. "I-It's fine, (Y/N). I wasn't strong enough to save Mom, so I at least want to save you."

She listened as her body started shivering madly. A sickening crack was heard and her brother flinched. But he didn't cry. Instead, he continued to smile at his little sister, one eye closed in order to hide the pain.

"You're the best thing that ever happened to us. We never deserved you or your smile... So smile, (Y/N). Live and smile. For me and Mom." "Shinya..." "Go and do what Dad always told us. Become a Demon Slayer." "I-I'll miss you..." she said, not knowing why she uttered those words.

But they felt right to say. After losing her father not too long ago, she understood the concept of death, especially for the ones left behind. And with that comes the importance of the last goodbye. Looking back just once, she turned on her heals and started to run.

'Run. Don't stop. If you stop now, it's over. Everything... Everything will end if you stop... Just like Dad... Mommy... Shinya... No matter how far, I'll run. I'll make it!' she thought, determination starting to rise.
