Nagising si Daniel sa kanyang tulog nang naramdaman niyang may tumawag sa cellphone niya. He uttered a curse when he saw that it was still just four in the morning. Who in their right mind would call him up in the middle of the night? Wala naman siyang natatandaang may siyang shooting o any other commitment sa araw na iyon.
He lazily sat up and looked at his phone. Tiningnan niya ang number na naka-register sa screen ng cellphone niya. It was Aaliyah's number. Ano kaya ang kailangan nito sa kanya at tumawag pa ito nang madaling araw?
"Aaliyah?" nakakunot-noong sagot niya sa cellphone.
"Deej?" narinig niyang sagot nito. But something in her voice was off.
"Ba't ka napatawag?" He heard her sniffed on the other line. Was she crying? "Umiiyak ka ba?"
"Deej, are you free? Wala ka bang ibang ginagawa ngayon?"
"Well... I'm in the middle of my sleep. So..."
"Oh, I'm sorry. Sorry that I disturbed you. I just... gusto ko lang ng may makausap. I was just thinking kung pwede ka ba."
Napabuntong-hininga siya saka ay nagpikit ng mga mata. He was really tired. Plus, Kath is in his house. Hindi naman pwedeng iwan lang niya ito doon. "Ah... I - I don't know, Liyah. I mean, hindi kasi ako pwede ngayon. Kath is with me, so - "
"Anong ibig mong sabihin, Kath is with you? Nandiyan siya sa bahay mo ngayon? Is she beside you now?" Tama bang may nahimigan siyang galit sa tinig nito?
"Well, yeah. She's here with me sa bahay. Pero hindi kami magkatabi," pagdedepensang sagot niya sa mga tanong nito.
"What is she doing there?"
“Ahm, well... it'a a long story, Liyah. Sasabihin ko nalang sa iyo when we meet later sa shooting natin. Pero, right now, I really need to go back to sleep. Kakatulog ko lang kasi."
"Okay. Salamat nalang."
