+THIRD+After a very long conversation about boundaries and how they felt about everything, Namjoon and Malia decided to go out for lunch. Since all of their previous attempts have failed, they want to try again.
"This is our first official date." Malia says as she opens her straw, pulling it from its paper sleeve and inserting it into her drink.
Namjoon swallows the piece of breadstick in his mouth.
"No, it's not. We went to that drive in diner and that restaurant while we were out of city for regionals."
"Yea, but we weren't together then." She says quietly as she drags a fry through ketchup. Namjoon watches her as she dips it a few times. He smiles at her as she begins to chew, ready to fluster her to no end.
"Will you be my girlfriend, Malia?"
She pokes her lips out and puts her head down, trying to hide her smile. Had her crown of curls been out, maybe it would've worked. She's out of luck for right now. Growing tired of her own hair, she let Kaia and Taija give her medium sized knotless braids.
She's kept up on the coloring of the honey blonde strip in her hair so Kaia had to get braiding hair that matched.
Malia nods in response to his question. Deciding that won't be enough for him, Namjoon teases her for a verbal response.
"I couldn't hear you? Was that a 'yes' or am I gonna be single for sophomore year?"
She smacks her teeth and looks up at him. "Don't play with me. I will drag your ass across campus this year. "
He blinks at her. "You still didn't answer my question."
"Yes, Namjoon."
"Why you saying it like that? I take it back." He says calmly waiting for her to react. She raises an eyebrow as she stares at him.
"I don't care. We're still together, you're still my man. Now what?"
Namjoon can't fight the smile that threatens to form on his lips. "Nothing. As long as you know." His eyes travel lower to the chained gem around her neck.
"Did you ever take it off?"
"Hm? Take what off?" She asks as she chews a fry.
"Your necklace."
She touches the blue pendant and shakes her head.
"No. For what?" She asks.
"I was just wondering." It fills him with glee to know that she didn't. She has worn it every day since he gave it to her.
"Did you ever take yours off?" She counters and he shakes his head.
"No." It's a simple, honest answer. He never took it off nor did he ever think about doing so.
"Good. Thought I was gonna have to bust you upside your head or something." She jokes and he rolls his eyes.
"Let me get a bite of your burger."
She pushes her plate over to him. "Take it. I'm full." She sits back against the booth and takes sips of her fruit punch. Namjoon eats the rest of her sandwich before getting the check.
Malia gets a peek at it and he snatches it up. "No."
"Why not? You never let me pay for anything."
"I got it, Lia. I'm not broke."
"You're not rich either. Give it here. We can split it."
"No."He doubles down on his initial answer and she crosses her arms over her chest with a mug on her face.
