+THIRD+Dean Kim walks through the campus with his hands in his pockets and a stoic expression on his face. It's 10 a.m. and he's been called in to a meeting with the Board. It was scheduled for Tuesday but there was too much going on so Thursday, it is.
He's grateful for that if he's being honest. The basketball team left for their AWAY games on Tuesday. If the Board decides to makes some rash decision, it will have to wait until the season is over. It will have to wait until the end of the semester.
Seokjin walks into the building and waves to the receptionist. She smiles at him and checks him so he doesn't have to walk all the way over. He sits in a chair and takes his phone out of his pocket as he waits for his meeting time.
He texts Nari back as well as Taehyung. The latter woke up this morning to a an almost flooded kitchen. Seokjin had recently gotten the pipes replaced and the guy did a faulty job. Taehyung walked into the kitchen for breakfast and immediately grew uncomfortable as his socks became wet. He backs up the steps and called Seokjin before anything else.
A plumber has to come out to the house and Taehyung's been keeping him updated. The pipe is fixed now and the floor has been dried.
"Dean Kim?"
His name is called and he looks up at the woman. He locks his phone, putting it on silent as he walks down the hall. Seokjin takes a deep breath before entering the conference room. He's greeted by the same men that were there on the day he came with Malia.
"Good morning, Dean Kim."
"Good morning." He responds as he sits down.
"I'm not going to ease into this, nor am I going to cut any corners regarding the matter." Mr. Buick states. Seokjin looks at him with professional, yet blank look.
"It has come to our attention, or rather, been brought to our attention that there is a conflict of interest involving your personal life and an investigation that was recently resolved. As you know, any personal interest in investigations is not allowed. As the Dean of Georgia Tech, you cannot involve yourself in the investigations of family or friends. Are you aware of this code as it was read to you on the day of your induction as Dean and violation of this could lead up and include your termination at this school?"
"Yes, I am."
Mr. Buick curtly nods. "It is to our knowledge that you are dating the mother of Namjoon Kim. As you know, Namjoon Kim's scholarship was at risk due to his involvement in a physical altercation on campus property. The issue was resolved with the statement that his girlfriend, Malia Ward was inappropriately touched by the victim of the assault, Isaac Lightly."
Seokjin nods in acknowledgment of the words. He doesn't entirely agree with the wording being used but that's a conversation for another day.
"Is this true?"
"..Yes. It is." Seokjin is honest with the men before them.
"And how long have the two of you been dating?"
"We weren't together at the time of the investigation. We didn't start having consistent contact until after the November break. There was no conflict of interest during the investigation. Miss Ward was sexually assaulted by Isaac. He then basically bragged about it as if it was something to be proud of and as a man, Mr. Kim defended his girlfriend.
"That is not grounds to physically assault another student. Miss Ward should have filed a report with the Board and the consequences would have been handled accordingly, Seokjin."
"It's Dean Kim." He corrects the man.
"And by handled accordingly, you mean Isaac would have gotten away with sexually assaulting and then harassing Malia on campus because his father is a donor to the school. You would have asked for evidence that she obviously does not have because of what the circumstances are." Seokjin manages to control his temper but not without difficulty.
