+THIRD+Energy on campus is high.
It always is for the day of the first game of a sports season. Basketball and football are the main sports are at the school so of course, everybody is looking forward to game tonight.
The basketball team is hyped, the dance team is hyped. Nobody is more hyped up than Namjoon Kim. For more than one reason. His first game is tonight. His birthday is tomorrow.
He's going to be 20, officially a young adult by his mother's standards.
He's excited about the day, even if it isn't a huge birthday. It's something that he can't wait to celebrate. He'll be with his friends, his girlfriend. His family won't be there but he can always call his mother to see her. He knows that she'll probably call him first.
She did it the year before. She called him at two in the morning to tell him happy birthday. Mrs. Kim was doing an overnight at the hospital and had a little time to talk with him. He was so happy to see her even if was just over the phone.
"Namu!" Malia yells his name from behind. He's walking across campus on the way to his fourth and final block of the day. She jogs up as he turns to her. Her arms wrap around his torso and he laughs as she puts her head against his chest.
"Are you excited for your game tonight?"
"Yeah. I got excitement jitters. I can't wait." Namjoon says as he rubs his hands on her sides. She giggles as he tickles her before grabbing his hand and walking with him.
"I can't wait to watch you play. My dad texted me earlier and said he got another sticker for the team on his car."
"Yeah, I know." Namjoon laughs. "He texted me too. He said he's gonna get one for every year until we graduate."
Malia shakes her head at her father's antics. "He do too much. Him and my mom. Why she sent me a picture of her and your mom wearing their little jerseys already? Like girl, the game not until later."
"You sound like a hater." He looks at her and she narrows her eyes at him.
"No I don't. I'm just saying." She says and Namjoon squeezes her hand, bringing it up to kiss it.
"It's okay. You can say you're happy that your parents support me."
She side eyes him. "I am." She says quietly.
"At least we know that they like you. That basically means you're stuck with me until the day you die so." Malia shrugs and he smacks his teeth.
"Where was I gonna go, Malia? Try to leave me again and next time you ask me to bleach your hair, imma let it sit there."
"My hair's gonna fall out, dickhead."
"Oh well." He shrugs and she screwfaces him playfully. He cracks up at her expression. "I'm just playing.... Kind of."
"Didn't I just say you're stuck with me? I thought we cleared that already." She chides as they walk into the building.
"As long as you know." He puts his arm around her waist as they walk down the hall. Gathered in the hall where they usually are, is the basketball team. Standing a few feet from them is the cheer team.
Malia bristles at the sight of Chloe and Namjoon rubs her hips.
"Relax, Lia. It's a new year. Don't let her get to you. I don't think she'll say much after what Janae did to her."
Her annoyance doesn't disappear but her body relaxes into his. She holds his arm as they approach their friends. Namjoon daps all of them up and Malia greets them verbally, not wanting to detach herself from her boyfriend.
