++MALIA++I don't know how I let Mrs. Kim talk me into coming out of my room. I don't know how I let her swindle me. But here I am....
I don't want to be out here. I don't want to be around all of these people. Why can't I stay in my room? I'll even go home if it's suggested. I shouldn't have even come.
My ex-boyfriend's step father planned this trip. Why did I come on it?
"Lia?"
"Yes?" I snap out of my thoughts.
"Are you going to eat?"
"I'm not very hungry." I respond without thinking about it. I pick up my mug of hot chocolate and sip from it.
Looking around the restaurant, I see the families with their kids or the couples on trips by themselves. They're all smiling and happy.
That's probably how my group looks. I'm also probably ruining it with the expression on my face.
"You didn't join us for breakfast again, either. You should eat something." Taehyung pushes half of his BLT sandwich toward me.
"I'm not hungry."
"But you should eat." He says again. "When's the last time you had something in your stomach? You love food. That's kind of apart of your entire personality."
"Are you calling me fat?"
"No. I'm saying that you enjoy eating and trying new foods. How does that equate to-? Never mind. Don't eat. I don't care."
"Of course you don't." I roll my eyes. "You're the last person I'd expect to."
I see Seokjin and my father look in our direction hearing the tone in our voices.
"You really don't know how to let shit go. Do you?"
"I would think you'd understand how trauma works since you still can't sit in the back seat of a car without having a panic attack."
"Malia." My father says in a scolding tone.
"I would think you'd understand how forgiveness works since you-."
"Taehyung." Seokjin speaks his name with the most authority I've ever heard.
"No." Taehyung turns to his uncle. "She doesn't get to say shit and have no consequences because all of you baby her. I know what I did was wrong. I live with that shit every day. I live with the consequences of my actions every fucking day. Just because I lost people doesn't mean that I got to justifiably be an asshole." He stands up from the table and so does Seokjin.
"Taeh-."
"I knew this was a bad idea. Something told me to just stay home." Taehyung shakes his head.
"You're a part of this family. You don't stay home while we're on trips."
"As she so kindly pointed out, my family's dead." He pushes his chair back as his eyes water. "I don't care about fitting into hers. And I'm not forcing myself into anybody else's for the sake of your relationship."
He starts walking away and Namjoon gets up from his seat. He looks at me with an angry expression as he follows Taehyung out.
"Malia, you should not have said that. You don't know what he goes through every night. You don't know what he does to get better." My father scolds.
"And you do?" I ask with a raised eyebrow. "Of course you do. That makes sense, actually because you're so busy being everybody else's father that you forget you have an actual child."
