+NAMJOON+When the guys and I offered to run sign up tables for the dunk tanks, we didn't think this through all the way. We volunteered to be helpful and we don't regret it.... There's just a lot of shit going on in this one section of campus.
It's the official sign up day for a lot of fundraising events by the many different teams of campus. So naturally, the strip is packed. On top of that, it's during class hours so people are signing up and going to and from class in the same area.
"Is this for the basketball team? Doing the dunk tanks?"
A girl approaches with her friends. Others are in line and signing up. They're just making inquiries.
"The dunk tanks are for the dance team but the basketball team is signed up to participate." I tell her. Her eyes move from me to Midas who's explaining how the volunteer process works to a freshman.
"Oh~. We'll sign up then. What are you guys doing for your fundraiser?"
"It's still up for debate. It's looking like a car wash though."
"Ouu. Do you guys need volunteers for that?" She leans on the table and I look at her with a bored expression.
"No. It's just us. We won't need any help. There's plenty of us. If you're signing up for the tanks though, can you move to the back of the line? We're tryna get people signed up and outta of the way to clear up traffic over here." I gesture to the end of the line and she looks back before walking away.
I turn my attention to the man in front of me.
"My bad. You signing up for the tanks?"
"Nah, it's cool. I already know how these girls get on campus. Yeah, I'm signing up. Me and the whole team, actually." He points behind him and his face clicks in my head.
Isaac.
I saw his Instagram but I didn't catch that he played lacrosse here. I didn't see that insinuation in his recent pictures at all. My hand clenches around the pen in my hand. His statement about the girls on campus now feels targeted. I want to be upset right now but I won't. Malia and I are together now. He's never going to touch her again. I can't beat his ass... this damn scholarship. Though I do wonder if she knows that he goes to school here.
That's something that should have also been disclosed when she told me so I'm assuming that she didn't know. I can stay calm through this. Malia is my girlfriend now. She'll never be without me again.
"How many are signing up?" I ask after quickly getting my thoughts and emotions together.
"22. You're the basketball captain, right? Namjoon Kim, sophomore?"
I grab a new sign up sheet and label it so that it's separate from the others. I did the same thing with my team. It feels neater like this.
"Yeah." I pull the cap off the pen and hover it over the paper. "And you are?" I ask as I prepare to write his name.
"Isaac Lightly. FOGO on the team."
I don't know what the hell that is or why he felt the need to tell me but I nod as I write his name in.
"I'm gonna tell you this so you can the rest of your team. I don't want to repeat myself while we're rushing everybody out of here. The updates for the volunteers are going to be put up on the dance team's Instagram page. So from there, instructions will be given on where the meeting place will be, where the tanks are being set up, the actual fundraiser information. All that stuff."
"Alright, that's cool. Thank you." He smiles as steps out of the way.
"No problem." I head nod and look at the next player.
