+THIRD+Fourth quarter of the game and Namjoon is pushing through every single thought in his head. His mind is blank and focused on nothing but plays, dribbles and passing. Open spots, blocking and ripping the ball if he has to. He would even care at this point.
He runs down the court dribbling the ball. He side steps the guy checking him to move around before passing the ball to Jay.
Jay moves it up the court to the net where he's forced to pass it off to Midas. He's the only one with a semi open space. But not completely. He shoots and it's tipped off his guarder's fingers as his body bumps into his. Midas stumbles back and the ball bounces off the the back of the rim.
As he falls onto his back, the guy from the other team holds his arm out for him.
"Shit. My bad." He helps him up.
"Nah, it's straight. Too much momentum, I know." Midas grabs his hand to get up. "Happens to all of us."
Hakeem stands on the sidelines as the timer starts again. He passes the ball in to Tyrell who takes it down court a few steps before passing to Jay. It's passed to Namjoon who's elbowed pretty hard in the side as he catches it.
The whistle is blown and he stops moving down court.
"Foul on Arizona Wildcats. Elbowing." The referee calls.
Arizona calls a timeout and all of the players head to the sidelines. Namjoon rubs his side as he walks over.
"You good, man?" Midas asks, out of breath as they walk over.
"Yeah." He puts one hand on his hip as he drinks from his water bottle. He puts his head and swishes the water around in his mouth.
His eyes glance around as they always do and Malia is watching him with a small smile on her face. It's the reassuring one that she always gives when he's feeling like he's losing it.
It's not doing him much justice tonight. He's just glad to see her. He's off his mark tonight and it's starting to get to him. She does the sign for 'I love you' and he cracks a smile as he looks at her. He kisses the rose around his neck to say it back.
Malia knows that something is off with him. She's well aware of that fact. But he hasn't said anything got her about it and he's been relatively quiet the last week. It's worrisome for her and to be honest, she wants to get him to speak.
She'd never force him against his will but how much time is enough time? Thinking about what he did for her, she guesses as much as he needs. Namjoon also used brownies, ice cream and Titanic against her so maybe she should do something similar, she thinks.
The whistle is blown again and the guys head to the court for the foul shot. There's only one and Joon makes it with a stoic expression on his face. Malia claps and smiles watching him get in position to guard his opponent.
His skin has a moderate sheen of sweat on it and his hair is damp. As he lowers into positions, both of his chains dangle. His eyes focus on the man in front of him, almost glaring but it's all for sport.
He attempts to pass the ball and it tips off of Joon's fingers. It falls short of its destination and drops to the ground in a bounce. Namjoon turns and snatches it up, passing it off as he registers the amount of men coming at him for it. It makes it to the freshman that he's taken a liking to, Nathan.
He gets it up court and Ty watches with wide eyes as he shoots from a little behind the three point line. Midas's eyes blow as the shot clock counts down in seconds. Hakeem's face twists in almost tangible pain and Jay is slightly cringing.
