If it's one thing I've noticed that Xavier and my family have in common... they are loud. I don't know why that wasn't a thought that crossed my mind before but oh my god.

Put Black, Asian and Mexican men in the same room with sports on and the whole place is a damn stadium all of a sudden. My father, Xavier's father and his grandfathers are fully invested in this football game.

Our mothers and his grandmothers are at the table playing cards and talking. More than likely gossiping. I heard my mom say something about the women in her church and that was enough of a giveaway.

"Baby, come with me to the store real quick." Xavier says as he feels his pockets for his car keys.

"What are we going for?" I ask from the couch.

"We're out of water bottles." He takes his keys out of his jacket pocket and grabs my hand. We walk out the door and to his car. The drive to the store is quick and relatively quiet.

We walk into the store and he grabs a basket.

"I thought you said we came for water."

"We did." He states. "But I ate all your snacks last night after you fell asleep so." He starts laughing as my mouth falls open.

"It's not funny. You always eating my stuff."

He smacks his teeth. "And I always replace it. I'm a big man. I need sustenance, baby."

"Then buy your own dammit."

"Why do I need to do that when I can just eat yours?" Xavier looks down at me and I look up at him.

"Why do I feel like you're being nasty?"

"I am." He confirms with a grin. I roll my eyes at him and he pulls me closer.

We walk aisle to aisle grabbing chips, drinks and snacks for his bedroom. He bought a basket for his room that he puts just my snacks into. And all of my drinks go into this mini fridge. It's such a thoughtful gesture and I didn't even have to ask him for it. He just showed me when we got to his house.

I heard him and his mother talking about it the first night that I got there. They were in the kitchen making apple pies and I was on the couch. His mother was saying that she was very proud of him. I guess she thought that he'd never try again after Chloe. He was sullen after her.

But, oh well. Fuck that girl. I'm attending family functions with Xavier from now on. We're happy and he'll never see another sad day like that again in his life.

He squeezes my hand as we walk through the milk and dairy section. I told him I wanted some strawberry yogurt earlier and he said we can get a big container of it.

"What brand you want?"

"Yoplait." I say as we look into the long fridge section.

He bites the inside of his lip as his eyes scan the selections.

"What you staring at me for?" He turns his head to look at me as he reaches for the container.

"I love you." I tell him, taking the yogurt from him and putting it into the cart.

"I love you, more." He counters. I grab his hand and he kisses my forehead as we walk up front to the registers. My face is hot the whole time and the urge to hide it in his arm or put my hoodie on and cover my face is strong.

It feels so weird to be this affectionate in public. Or in general. Xavier is so open with his love and I can't take it sometimes. What do I do with this? How do I handle all of this raw affection?
