Taija wakes up with with a headache and a tired pout on her lips. Tyrell isn't in the bed with her and she looks around for a second. She gets up to use the bathroom and smells food.

She goes to the bathroom, does her business and comes out to find Tyrell in the kitchen. He's texting on his phone as he waits for the waffle maker to signal it's finished. At the sound of her bare feet against the tiled floor, he looks over at her.

"Lia said to make you waffles with sprinkles in the mix." He puts his phone in his pocket.

"You had sprinkles here? I thought you didn't like sweets." She teases.

"I don't. I had to run over to her to get them." Ty hugs her and squeezes a little. "Are you feeling okay today? Pain wise, I mean?"

He knows that mentally and emotionally, it might take a while.

"Just cramping but it's not bad today."

"You got practice tonight?"

"Yeah. I think I'll go but not dance. I'm not bleeding more than a heavy period right now but I'm not feeling it yet. Lia and Cam have to show us new choreo and I don't want to fall behind."

"Just tell Coach Netta you need to chill for tonight. Do your little dance marking and counts and just watch. Y'all studio finished, right? You won't be in the gym anymore?"

"Nope. We have our own space now. Free from y'all tryna watch and figure out our dances."

Ty smacks his teeth and laughs. "Girl, I don't care. I'll get Lia to teach me. I'll out-buck all you big headed dancers."

"Yeah, okay." Taija removes herself from his grip. "You can't even out-buck the freshmen. Get outta here."

Tyrell's mouth drops and he raises his eyebrows. "Call them. Right now. I want a competition after y'all practice." He puts his hands on his hips.

"Boy." She cracks up. "No. Go to hell. Where my waffles at?" They laugh together as they make their plates for breakfast. They sit to eat in the living room and Taija's mood begins to drop again.

"I told my dad... the day we went to the clinic."

Tyrell looks over at her.

"He's not mad or anything." She says quietly. "He's just.. sad. He's worried about me. I told him I was fine, that I'd get through it and be okay. But I don't know anymore. I feel terrible. And I know that I'll heal and feel better eventually. But how long is eventually?"

"It's only been a few days, baby. You have to give it time. It's a day by day thing. Just take each day one at a time. One day you'll wake up and it won't hurt so much anymore. It won't be crippling to think about. It'll be a memory. The pain will be a memory. You never have to forget it. You just have to heal."

Taija puts a piece of bacon in her mouth and chews as she looks at him. "You're gonna be a good therapist whenever you decide to use your degree."

"Uughh. Don't even bring that up. You know much longer I gotta be in school for? This is crazy."

"But it'll be worth it. You can help kids and teenagers like you want to."

"Yeah... that I can do." He says as he looks at his eggs.

Maybe he can be a better role model to them than the ones he had growing up.
