Gally Reacts to Your New Dog

Life at the safe haven was usually boring, so when you found a stray dog in the woods, you were delighted. The poor thing was half-frozen, muddy, and covered in fleas when you found it hiding under a rock. You couldn't approach it for a while because it was too scared of you, but you managed to lure it back to the Haven with food. There Frypan helped you clean him up and gave him some of Frypan's famous stew, which he loved.

"What should we name him?" Frypan asked.

"I don't know..." You hesitated.

"How about Lost? Since he was lost when you found him?" Frypan suggested.

"Lost? That's kind of silly, isn't it?"

"I don't think so."

"Well... how about Found, then, because I found him, and it rhymes with Hound which is what he is!"

"Now who's being silly," Frypan teased. You shoved him playfully and he laughed.

"Found it is then. Now comes the hard part..."

"The hard part?" You asked.

"Convincing Gally to let us keep him."

"Oh, yeah..." You sighed. Gally didn't like animals and was the Safe Haven's unofficial animal patrol. Mainly because he was the only one who would fearlessly remove the snakes that seemed to love moving into the Safe Haven huts.

"Oh, speak of the devil, here he comes..." Frypan said, pointing to where Gally was walking up.

"Quick, hide Found! I'll talk to him first-"

"Y/n, Frypan, is that a dog I see?" Gally yelled.

"No!" You replied.

"Then what is it?!"

"A hallucination!"

"Oh, really!"

"Yes?"

"Y/n, get over here."

You sighed. "Frypan just hold him here for a minute," You whispered, and Frypan nodded.

"Yes, Gally?" You asked, innocently.

"Why is there a dog over there."

"His name is Found."

"You named it?! You can't name it!"

"Why not?" You asked.

"Because if you name it, you'll want to keep it!" Gally insisted, hands on his hips.

"Yes... so?"

"So, we're not keeping it!"

"Why not?" You pleaded.

"Because!"

"Oh, please, Gally! I promise I'll take care of him! He won't bark at night, I'll take him for walks, and feed him and... please, Gally?"

"No!"

It was time to bring out the big guns.
"Frypan, let him over here! Here, Found! Here boy! Look, Gally," You said, holding up the dog. "Look how cute it is. And all alone... we can't just leave it."

"Yes, we can."

"How can you say no to that face?" You asked, holding the puppy in his face.

"No," Gally said, without missing a beat.

"Oh come on, Gally! It's awful here... a dog would make everyone happier! Why do you have to ruin everything!?" You demanded; hugging Found close to you.

Gally's eyes flickered with emotion, and you realized when you'd said.

"I'm sorry, Gally... I didn't mean that... you don't ruin everything..."

"Yes, I do." He sighed and looked sadder than you'd ever seen him.

"Keep the dog, I don't care," He mumbled at last.

"Thank you." You turned and hurried back to Frypan, leaving Gally staring after you.

Two days later, Found was missing. You were frantic and had been searching for hours. Frypan ran up to you, laughing.

"Y/n, you have to see this."

You followed Frypan to Gally's hut, where a surprising sight met your eyes.

There was Found, curled into a ball, sitting on Gally's chest. Both of them were sleeping and Found rose and fell as Gally breathed.

You and Frypan covered your mouths to stifle your giggles, and left Gally and his new best friend alone.
