TW Body Dysmorphia!
The Glade was beginning to quiet down for the night, with the low hum of evening activities fading into a soft murmur. The cool breeze rustled through the trees, carrying with it the comforting scent of the forest. You had been struggling silently with body dysmorphia, a condition that made it difficult for you to perceive your body in a realistic way. It was a constant battle between how you saw yourself and how others saw you.You had managed to put on a brave face during the day, but as night fell, the weight of your insecurities became almost unbearable. You found yourself slipping away from the group, seeking solitude near the edge of the Glade. There, you sat on a large rock, hugging your knees tightly to your chest.
Thomas, ever perceptive to the moods of those around him, had noticed your withdrawal. He had seen the way you avoided eye contact, the way you seemed lost in your thoughts. Deciding to check on you, he followed the path you took and found you alone, looking distant and troubled.
"Hey, y/n," Thomas said softly as he approached, his voice carrying a hint of concern. "Mind if I join you?"
You looked up, managing a weak smile. "Sure, Thomas. I'm just... taking a break."
Thomas settled beside you on the rock, studying your face with a worried expression. "You don't seem like you're just taking a break. You look... off. What's going on?"
You hesitated, feeling a lump in your throat. The words you wanted to say felt like they were stuck, but you finally spoke, your voice trembling. "I've been struggling a lot with how I see myself lately. I have this... dysmorphia. I can't seem to see myself the way everyone else does. I keep feeling like I'm not right, that I'm flawed in ways that maybe others don't even notice."
Thomas's brow furrowed as he listened, his concern deepening. "I'm really sorry you're going through this, y/n. It sounds incredibly tough. But you need to know that you're not alone in this."
You shook your head, tears welling up. "It's just so hard. I look in the mirror, and no matter how much I try to see what others see, all I can focus on are the things I think are wrong with me. It's exhausting."
Thomas placed a comforting hand on your shoulder, his touch warm and steady. "I can't pretend to know exactly how it feels, but I can tell you that you're not defined by what you see in the mirror. You're so much more than that."
He looked into your eyes with a deep sincerity. "You're a wonderful person, y/n. The strength you show, the kindness you offer—it's all part of who you are, and that's what really matters."
You leaned into his touch, feeling a slight sense of relief from his words. "It's hard to believe that sometimes. I keep thinking that if only I could change this or that, everything would be better."
Thomas shook his head gently. "You don't need to change anything. You're amazing just the way you are. It's okay to have these feelings, but they don't define your worth. You have people here who care about you, who see you for who you truly are."
He pulled you into a supportive hug, his embrace providing a sense of comfort and safety. "If you ever need to talk about it or just need someone to be there, I'm here for you. You don't have to go through this alone."
You hugged him back, feeling a bit more at ease with his support. "Thank you, Thomas. It means a lot to hear that."
Thomas gave you a reassuring smile, his eyes filled with understanding. "Anytime, y/n. Remember, no matter what you see or how you feel, you're valued and loved here. And if you ever need to talk or just need a friend, I'm right here."
As the stars began to twinkle in the darkening sky, Thomas stayed by your side, offering his quiet and unwavering support. His presence reminded you that even in moments of deep self-doubt, you had someone who truly cared and who saw you for more than the distorted image that plagued your mind.
The night grew calmer, and with Thomas's comforting words and steady presence, you felt a renewed sense of hope and reassurance. For tonight, at least, the weight of your insecurities felt a little lighter, knowing that you were not alone in your struggle.
