The box had just made its usual grinding sound as it descended into the Glade, its metal doors opening to reveal the newest arrival. The Gladers, gathered around the entrance, had seen many newcomers come and go, but today was different—there was something special about your arrival.
Minho, as one of the lead Runners and always keenly aware of anything that might affect the Glade, was among the first to approach. He watched with curiosity and a hint of excitement as you stepped out of the box, blinking at the sudden burst of light after your time in the dark.
You looked around with wide eyes, taking in the expanse of the Glade for the first time. Minho, sensing your disorientation, made his way over with a friendly but slightly teasing grin.
"Welcome to the Glade," he said, his tone light but welcoming. "I'm Minho. You're probably wondering where you are and what's going on. Don't worry; we'll explain everything."
You nodded, still a bit overwhelmed. "Thanks. I... I'm not really sure what to make of all this."
Minho chuckled, his easygoing demeanor meant to put you at ease. "Yeah, it's a lot to take in. I remember my first day here. Just a little bit of advice: don't get too comfortable too quickly. Things around here can get pretty intense."
He guided you towards the main area where the other Gladers were gathering. "So, what's your name?"
As you introduced yourself, Minho gave you a nod of approval. "Nice to meet you. Let me show you around a bit. You'll need to know where everything is if you're going to make it here."
Minho's tone was light, but there was an underlying warmth in his voice. He took you on a quick tour, pointing out the different areas of the Glade—the Gardens, the Homestead, and of course, the Maze. He explained the basic rules and how the Gladers managed their daily routines.
"By the way, if you ever need anything or have any questions, just ask. We're all in this together, and it helps to have someone show you the ropes," Minho said with a reassuring smile.
As the tour continued, you could see the genuine care in Minho's eyes. He might be known for his tough exterior, but his actions and the way he interacted with you showed a softer side. He made sure you knew where to find food and where the Medjacks were located in case you needed them.
When you finally reached the part of the Glade where you'd be staying, Minho gave you a friendly pat on the back. "Well, this is your new home for now. Try to get some rest, and don't worry too much. It takes a while to get used to things around here, but you'll find your rhythm."
You thanked him, feeling a bit more at ease with the help he had offered. As Minho turned to leave, he looked back with a grin. "Oh, and if you're thinking about becoming a Runner, just know that the Maze is not a walk in the park. But if you're up for the challenge, I'm sure you'll do great."
With that, Minho headed off to continue his duties, leaving you with a sense of relief and gratitude. His presence had been a comforting first encounter in the unfamiliar world of the Glade, and you felt a little more prepared to face the days ahead, thanks to his kindness and guidance.
