The evening in the Glade had settled into a peaceful lull, with the campfire crackling softly as the stars began to twinkle in the sky. You and Thomas had spent the day working together on various tasks, and as night fell, you found yourselves sitting on a log near the fire, the warm glow casting gentle shadows on your faces.
The camaraderie and the shared laughter of the day had left you both feeling more connected than ever. You glanced over at Thomas, who was gazing at you with a soft, thoughtful expression. There was a comfortable silence between you, a rare moment of tranquility in the otherwise busy and often chaotic environment of the Glade.
"I've been meaning to tell you something," you said quietly, breaking the silence. "Something that's been on my mind for a while."Thomas turned his head to look at you, his expression curious but gentle. "What's up?"
You hesitated for a moment, your heart racing slightly. "I've been feeling... a lot closer to you lately. More than just friends."
Thomas's eyes widened slightly, and he seemed to be processing your words. He opened his mouth to respond, but before he could say anything, you leaned in, closing the distance between you. Your lips brushed against his in a soft, tentative kiss.
Thomas froze for a heartbeat, his eyes widening in surprise. But then, as the kiss deepened, he responded with a gentle, tentative touch of his own. His hands found their way to your face, cupping it delicately as if to savor the moment.
When you finally pulled away, your heart was pounding in your chest. You looked up at Thomas, your cheeks flushed, and tried to gauge his reaction.Thomas's eyes were soft, his expression a mixture of surprise and warmth. He took a deep breath, his fingers still lightly resting on your cheeks.
"Wow," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't expect that."
You bit your lip, feeling a rush of vulnerability. "I didn't want to make things awkward, Thomas. I just... I had to tell you how I felt."
Thomas's smile widened, his eyes sparkling with something akin to relief and happiness. "I'm really glad you did," he said softly. "I've been feeling the same way. I just wasn't sure how to say it."
He leaned in again, this time more confidently, and kissed you deeply. The kiss was full of emotion, a tender mix of affection and promise. When you pulled away, Thomas's expression was filled with a genuine, heartfelt smile.
"Y/n," he said, his voice filled with emotion, "I've been wanting this for a while. I didn't realize how much until now."
You smiled back at him, feeling a sense of joy and contentment that you hadn't experienced before. "Me too, Thomas. This feels... right."
Thomas's hand gently squeezed yours, his eyes never leaving yours. "We're in this together, y/n. Whatever comes our way, we'll face it together."
You nodded, feeling a deep sense of connection. The warmth of the fire and the closeness of Thomas made everything feel perfect, even in the midst of the uncertainty of the Glade. For that moment, with Thomas by your side and your hearts open to each other, the world felt just a little bit brighter.
