January 27th - Prompt: Frozen
------------
"Perhaps leaving this early was a bad idea." Edmund grumbled as he shivered, his arms wrapped tightly around himself as he struggled through the snow, feeling more uncomfortable than he would care to admit.
Peter sighed. "I didn't know it was gonna snow." He muttered. "It hardly ever does this late into winter."
Edmund glanced up at him and sighed. "How long until home?" He asked quietly.
Peter shrugged. "Three hours perhaps?" He breathed.
Edmund glanced down at the snow, which was deep enough to completely cover his feet and swallowed hard. "Right." He murmured, his teeth chattering no matter how hard he tried to stop them.
Peter turned to face him, stopping. "You reckon you can make it?" He asked.
Edmund raised an eyebrow. "Yes Peter, I'm quite capable of walking for three hours." He replied.
Peter raised an eyebrow at him. "You know what I meant." He said. "You're shivering now."
"Well, it's snowing Peter." Edmund told him casually. "Of course I'm gonna be cold."
Peter stared at him, shaking his head a little. "You're impossible." He muttered as he continued to walk.
Edmund forced a grin. "That's me." He said, following beside his brother.
The two walked for about half an hour before Peter sighed. "Just how cold are you?" He asked.
Edmund swallowed hard, clenching his jaw to stop his teeth chattering. "Frozen." He finally admitted, his hands tucked under his arms and his coat wrapped tightly around him.
Peter bit his lip. He had to agree with his brother, it was absolutely freezing, but he knew his brother was a lot colder than he was.
"You wanna find shelter and warm up a bit?" He asked, sounding unsure.
But Edmund shook his head. "I'll be alright." He sighed. "Let's just get home."
But by the time they reached Cair Paravel, Edmund's lips had turned blue.
"You idiot." Peter grumbled.
"I - I can't feel my toes." Edmund shivered.
Peter sighed, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and pulling him close to try and warm him up a little. "We should've stopped." He said as they entered the castle.
Edmund was grateful for the sudden burst of heat, but it was no where near enough to even come close to warming him up.
"You're back!"
Peter spotted Lucy hurrying towards them, her happy expression soon turning to worry when she saw Edmund. "What's wrong?" She asked.
Peter sighed. "We've just gotten a bit cold is all Lu." He breathed, for even he was shivering too.
"You both look frozen." Lucy muttered, sighing. "I didn't expect it to snow this late in the winter."
"Neither did we." Edmund grumbled. "Otherwise we would've waited to come home."
"Come on Ed, we need to warm you up." Peter said gently, already leading Edmund up the stairs.
"And you, you idiot." Edmund grumbled, but he was too cold to argue much.
"Yeah, and me." Peter agreed softly, smiling weakly.
"I'll go make some hot chocolate and bring it up." Lucy told them.
"Sounds perfect Lu." Peter breathed. "Thanks."
Lucy smiled before hurrying off, disappearing out of sight around a corner.
"I hate snow so much."
Peter glanced down at his brother, unable to ignore the haunted look in his dark eyes as he stared out the nearby window. "I know." He sighed. "And I'm sorry you just had to do that."
Edmund shook his head. "You didn't know it was gonna snow." He breathed. "I just wish it never had."
Peter nodded in agreement. "Me too." He sighed, before they reached their room. "But cuddling under as many blankets as I can find sounds like heaven right about now."
Edmund managed a small grin at this, and even chuckled slightly. "I couldn't agree more."
