July 13th - Prompt: Thunderstorm

-----------

Edmund jumped a little when the first flash of lightening lit up the dark room, and he immediately lowered his book.

He'd been up late reading by torchlight as he usually did, and had been trying not to wake his brother, or he reckoned he'd be in a bit of trouble.

But when the rumble of thunder reached his ears, he pulled back the covers and made his way quickly over to Peter's bed. "Peter?" He asked quietly, sounding unsure.

Peter frowned in his sleep but didn't wake.

"Peter?" Edmund tried again, a little louder this time as another flash of lightening lit up the room.

Peter sighed as his eyes flickered open. "What?" He grumbled, sounding half asleep.

Edmund hesitated, but didn't need to answer for the rumble of thunder said everything for him.

Peter stared at him for a moment before pulling back his blanket a little and patting the bed beside him. "Come on." He slurred.

Edmund jumped into the bed beside his brother and snuggled under the covers. "Thank you." He mumbled.

Peter sighed. "You know it's just a Thunderstorm." He said slowly. "It can't hurt you."

Edmund shrugged. "I don't like them." He said quietly.

Peter smiled gently. "Try go back to sleep." He told his brother. "You're absolutely fine, you're indoors."

Edmund nodded slowly, scooting a little closer to Peter when another flash happened.

"I find them quite fascinating actually." Peter breathed as his eyes slipped shut again.

"Well then you're crazy." Edmund grumbled, burying his face agaisnt Peter's shoulder and saying no more.

Peter chuckled softly, turning towards Edmund to lay on his side. "Goodnight Edmund."

A pause until the thunder had gone silent.

"Goodnight."
