March 15th - Prompt: Knife
-----------
Edmund had never been more terrified as the dwarf pulled out his knife, that evil grin sending shivers down his spine.
He watched him carefully, breathing harsh but shallow, heart pounding in his chest as the dwarf came closer, kneeling beside him.
Edmund turned his head away as the knife was pressed to his neck, squeezing his eyes shut and letting out something that resembled a whimper.
He didn't want to die, not really. Sure, he'd been wondering when this moment would happen, wondering when the witch would finally realise he was of no use to her anymore, but he didn't want it to come this soon, he didn't want to die.
The dwarf pushed down with the knife, and Edmund swallowed hard, trying to pull away, but the ropes binding him to the wretched tree wouldn't let him.
"One little cut and it's all over." The dwarf whispered in his ear. "Question is, shall I do it? Right here, right now, quick and painless, or-" He paused and grinned, although Edmund couldn't see. "Or should I go and find the Queen, she could cut you many times where it won't instantly kill you, but slowly drain the blood from your body until you can no longer live. A very, painful death, one that we all know you deserve."
One tear slid down Edmunds cheek, and he could feel himself trembling, and felt like he might just throw up, despite there being nothing in his stomach for him to actually throw up.
The knife moved slightly, and Edmund shuddered, managing to shake his head just the tiniest amount.
The dwarf chuckled. "We all know you deserve death." He all but hissed. "You're a worthless Traitor, who would ever want you? Your family certainly won't want you back, so we should do them all a favour." At this he pushed the knife down, making the smallest cut, which made Edmund panic.
He yanked his head away and pulled hard against the ropes, ignoring the sheer pain it caused him to do so.
The dwarf rolled his eyes, and grabbed a fistful of Edmunds hair, yanking his head back so hard Edmund immediately stilled, groaning in pain.
Ginabrik laughed softly, before once again pressing the knife to the side of Edmunds neck, letting his hair go as Edmund squeezed his eyes shut.
He didn't want to die... but he knew he deserved it.
