April 10th - Prompt: The very first night

----------

Lucy sighed a little as she lay in her huge bed, staring up at the ceiling in the dark.

It must've been around midnight by now, but she was unable to sleep.

This could be due to the fact that it was her very first night in Cair, and she was alone, in a huge bed in a huge room, and she knew it was gonna to take a fair amount of time to get used to it.

She lay there for another twenty minutes before sighing and pulling back the blankets.

She slipped out of bed, grabbing her dressing gown and a candle, before heading from his room and down the hall.

She walked passed Susan's door, before reaching Edmund's.

She hesitated, before opening it quietly, expecting to find just Edmund, fast asleep in his bed.

He was indeed fast asleep, but Peter was there too, sat against the headboard, gently running his hand through his brother's hair.

He looked up when the door opened, looking a little confused at seeing Lucy. "Lu?" He murmured, keeping his voice quiet so as not to wake Edmund.

Lucy gave him a sheepish smile. "Couldn't sleep." She whispered, heading over to the bed and placing her candle on the bedside table.

Peter gave her a sad smile. "Any reason?" He asked, patting the bed beside him.

Lucy climbed up, shrugging. "Not exactly." She said slowly. "Just, I guess it's our first night here and I'm not used to such a big room or bed."

Peter chuckled silently. "I get that." He breathed.

"What are you doing in here?" Lucy asked after a moment, a small frown on her face.

Peter sighed, glancing down at Edmund. "Couldn't sleep either." He mumbled.

Lucy had a feeling it wasn't because he wasn't used to his room, and she sighed sadly. "Is he okay?" She asked.

Peter shrugged. "He hasn't dreamt yet." He said slowly.

Lucy nodded. "Are you okay?"

Peter turned to her, giving her a soft, small smile. "I'll be fine." He whispered. "I'd just prefer to be - be with him after - after a dream like that."

Lucy decided not to ask about the dream and just nodded her head, watching as Peter went back to running his fingers lightly through Edmunds hair.

The two looked up when the door opened again, and this time Susan walked in, smiling gently when she saw her siblings. "I thought I heard someone walk past my room." She whispered, walking quietly over to the bed.

"You couldn't sleep either?" Lucy asked.

Susan shook her head, sitting down on the edge of the bed. "It's - strange." She breathed.

Lucy nodded. "I'm not used to such a big bed." She said with a quiet laugh.

Susan smiled at her, before turning to Edmund. "Out of all of us he's the one that can sleep." She said, sounding slightly amused.

"He's tired." Peter breathed, his arm tightening where it was around his brother's shoulders.

Susan stared at Peter, before taking a deep breath. "Life's gonna be weird from now on isn't it?" She murmured.

"A good weird though." Lucy said even as she nodded.

Susan chuckled quietly. "Of course." She breathed. "But we'll all be okay."

Lucy smiled at her, before smiling at Petert too, who smiled softly back. "Of course we will." She murmured.
