Today was the day we found out the gender of our child. Denki was a little over 5 1/2 months and the doctors said that the baby would be developed enough to finally tell. I was currently in the back seat of Tomura's car, on our way to UA to pick up Denki. When we pulled up to UA Denki was already waiting outside. He opened the car door and I extended a hand to help him inside.
Once he was in he closed the door and moved closer to me, a wide smile on his face. The drive to the doctor's felt like an eternity, but when we finally arrived Denki wasted practically no time to head inside. Tomura waited in the car, so Denki and I went in on our own. When we got inside Denki got himself checked in then we went over and sat down in the waiting area.
15 minutes went by until we got called back. The doctor greeted us with a warm smile then led us back to the exam room. "You're here today for a regular check up and to find out the gender, correct?" The doctor asked, earning an enthusiastic nod from Denki. "Do you want us to tell you directly or write it down?"
"Tell us directly." Denki replied. The doctor nodded and sat Denki down in the exam chair. I took my usual spot next to him, Denki taking my hand once I was sat down. The doctor finished setting up the machine then had Denki pull his shirt up so she could get started.
The doctor spread gel across Denki's stomach then turned on the machine. She quickly was able to find the baby, making a smile spread onto her face. "Congratulations, not only is everything going well but you're having a boy."
I saw tears start flowing from Denki's eyes, he turned to me with a big smile, "We're having a boy, Toshi." I squeezed Denki's hand, a smile spreading onto my face under the mask. The doctor finished up the last bits of the check up, gave Denki and I the photo, then we went back to the car, finding Tomura resting his head against the wheel.
"We're back, Crusty." I said as Denki and I loaded into the car.
"Well? What is it?" Tomura asked, turning to us with curiosity.
"It's a boy." Denki proudly said.
"I so called it, Dabi owes me $20." Tomura laughed. A smile creeped onto my face as Tomura started the car and headed back to base. The second we walked into the door we were greeted by the members of the league, eagerly waiting to know the gender of the baby. We told them it was a boy and everybody was mostly excited, though Himiko wanted it to be a girl and Dabi was upset that he owed Tomura money.
Once they stopped asking questions Denki and I went to my room, quickly collapsing onto my bed. Denki was sat in between my legs and had his head resting against my shoulder as I rubbed soothing circles onto his abdomen. The baby was softly kicking and Denki didn't miss the opportunity to complain about it.
"You have any names in mind?" I asked, trying to take his mind off the kicking.
His head shot up, "I do, actually. I really like the name Haruka. What about you?"
"I was thinking maybe Ichiro, the final decision is really up to you though."
Denki sat there for a couple minutes, placing his hand on his stomach opposite of mine. A smile flew onto his face before he spoke, "As much as I like Ichiro, something about Haruka just feels right. It's like the name's calling out to be picked."
I smiled and planted a kiss onto Denki's cheek, "Haruka it is then."
"Shinso Haruka. I really like the sound of that." Denki said.
"Why my last name?"
"Because when we get married I'm taking your last name, it makes more sense and sounds better." Denki replied.
"Already thinking about marrying me, huh?"
"Always. I constantly think about you and our life together." Denki said, leaning his head into my neck.
"Never fear, I do too. You never seem to leave my mind." My attention was pulled away from Denki when I felt Haruka's kicking start to pick up, Denki groaning in response.
"Damn, kid. I swear he's going to break one of my ribs at some point." Denki complained.
Denki's attention snapped to the door as somebody started knocking, Dabi emerging into the room seconds later. "Yo, if you guys want food I just finished cooking." Dabi said before leaving.
Denki quickly got up and headed for the door, "Shirt!" I called out. Denki quickly stopped and turned back into the room to throw on one of his shirts. Once his shirt was on Denki and I went to the kitchen and joined the rest of the league at the table.
"Have you chosen a name yet?" Himiko asked.
"We have, his name's Haruka." Denki said, "Something about it just felt right for some reason."
"You tell your UA friends yet?" Tomura asked.
"Not yet, I wanted to tell them in person so I'm waiting until I get back to the dorms tonight, same with my parents." Denki replied.
After we finished eating Denki and I took to the living room, wanting to do a movie marathon before he needed to go back to UA. Denki and I burried ourselves under a blanket on the couch, scrolling through Netflix until we found a decent movie to watch. When we finally found one Denki turned to his side and rested his head on my chest.
A couple league members joined us in the living room, some sitting around us on the floor while others took to the other couches. We spent a few hours flipping through different movie genres until 8pm came around. Denki still wanted to tell class 2A about Haruka's gender and name so we took him back to UA earlier than usual.
Tomura drove Denki and I to UA, saying our goodbyes in the car before Denki took off. Tomura and I then went back to base. I stayed up with the league for a while later, Dabi wanted to play some sort of drinking game and I refused to pass up on participating. Once the game was finished, Dabi and I ending up completely wasted, I went off to my room, falling and passing out on my bed in a matter of seconds.
