"The place is called Corvo. It is some kind of speakeasy." Dick explained as they got out of the car and Liliana followed them, as she had her headphones hanging around her neck and she was able to catch up to them fairly quickly. "The landlord said that he usually bounces the late shift." Dick explained and Liliana knew what Jason's reaction was going to be, as she took his hand in hers in silence, as she caught up.
"That's too bad. Bouncers are assholes." Jason said and looked at Liliana, who was uneasy on the busy streets and he was suspecting, that she was more used to the darkness of Gotham and less of the lighter streets of Milwaukee and Liliana was sticking to his side like glue.
"Clay is not. And how would you know, anyway?" Dick asked and he looked rather confused, as Liliana was looking around hesitantly for the building and maybe it was too many years as a vigilante, but she felt uncomfortable and looked ready to run.
"Uncle Ray would take me to bars with him all the time when I was little. Everyone thought that it was cute, until it wasn't. He was a fun drunk. Then he'd get stupid. Then he'd start throwing a few punches. Then the bouncers would kick our asses out." Jason explained and Liliana looked sympathetic and when Dick spotted the look on her face, he realized that she had already heard the story.
"Where were your folks?" Dick asked as they continued walking.
"Mom was upstate. Dad was downstate. Uncle Ray was the man, until he OD'd when I was thirteen." Jason explained and Dick looked at him with raised eyebrows, as he was shaking his head.
"Where did you go?" Dick asked him.
"Wherever. Foster care. In and out of the system, then mostly the streets after that. Then Bruce found me and everything changed." Jason said and Liliana coughed, as the two of them looked at each other, then over at her.
"This building here." Liliana explained and Dick knocked on the door. When the guy at the door asked for the password, Dick showed him his badge and the guy opened the door. Liliana was allowed into the building, once Dick lied through his teeth easily and said that Liliana was a key witness. But Jason was left out in the cold and Liliana felt guilty about it immediately.
Dick and Liliana made their way over to the VIP lounge and although Liliana didn't recognize the man in the doorway, she did recognize him from stories that Dick had told her when she was young to get her to relax or to go to sleep. "Haly's Circus." Liliana heard Dick say and she saw the reaction first hand, as Clay was nearly crushing him in a hug.
"Who is this?" Clay asked and Liliana smiled a little bit, as Clay looked down at her with the gaze of the gentle giant and Liliana looked at Dick, who was smiling in response to it and Dick was put down on the ground from the hug.
"Clay, meet Liliana Mary Grayson." Dick introduced and Clay was smiling at Liliana. "Can we talk?" Dick asked after they had made introductions between the two and Clay wouldn't stop his smile when he saw the two.
"Oh Jesus. Excuse me." Liliana stated, when she saw that Jason had somehow gotten into the speakeasy and was picking a fight. "Jason." She said under her breath, as she stormed over and she got in between them, right as the guy was about to take a swing at Jason.
"Get out of the way, kid." The older guy snapped and Liliana's arm was in front of Jason, as he was glaring at the guy and seemed perfectly at ease, while Liliana stopped and she was standing solidly in between the two like a wall.
"No, I don't think that I will. I think that you are in our way and you are the one who needs to move. Now." Liliana's voice was calm and cold, collected and the guy was staring at her in shock at her attitude, as he growled and looked like he was going to take a swing at her and behind her she could feel Jason tensing up, ready for a good fight.
Clay and Dick got in between them before anything could really happen right there in the speakeasy, until there was a sudden explosion and everyone screamed in shock and Liliana moved Jason down as they were covered and there was glass exploding everywhere. "You okay?" Liliana asked and Jason nodded, as he hugged her quickly.
"You?" Jason asked and she nodded and they helped the injured without needing to be asked this time or any time, as Dick had lost sight of Clay in the chaos and Liliana was helping more people out of the ruins.
After Dick had stormed off to rescue Clay on his own as usual, Liliana and Jason only had a few seconds to think before they bolted off after him. Liliana was able to hack into Dick's tracker, the other one and she managed to track him. "Let's go." She said and they both raced off without delay.
"He gave you an out, dumbass. You should have taken it." Jason said and both him and Liliana jumped down to slam into Melting Man, as Liliana kicked Nick Zucco in the back, not realizing that he had clamped onto Jason beforehand.
The two fell onto the ground and Dick freed Clay, as Liliana jumped down after the two and sent Nick Zucco flying with a kick to the gut. "Watch out!" Liliana shouted at Jason, but her warning came too late and he got shot with one of the acid bullets.
Dick came out of nowhere and took out Nick Zucco, while Liliana helped Jason up and for a second or two, she looked like she was about to slap him. "Don't do that again." Liliana said and Jason rolled his eyes, as she was shaking her head. "Nice work." Liliana said to Dick, who lifted his shoulders in a shrug.
