The reactions are all the same.
The same 'what' and 'how' is the only words you can hear from the people who heard about her second time of being horribly unconscious.
They're all scared of what's going to happen next. Shinobu had already exhausted herself in doing everything she can just to give her the best cure she needs. And it stresses her a lot that nothing's actually changing. Was she actually meant to be like this? She wonders.
As Giyuu dashed towards the door and harshly opened it, his eyes shifted back and forth to Shinobu and the lying girl and the bed. "What happened this time?"
"A long story," she muttered lowly. Sighing, she sat down on the chair beside her bed and relaxed after walking to F/N's room and back to her laboratory and office. "I had already made the Kakushi compensate for what happened... but I don't think it'll change anything."
Giyuu wanted to ask a lot of question especially why was a Kakushi involved in this and why did he or she compensated? Yet he remained silent and tried his best to stay calm upon seeing his comrade's face filled with exhaustion. He thought that he shouldn't add something to her head and make it worse.
Walking closer to the bed, he softly held F/N's slightly cold hand and caressed it with the glint of hope in his eyes that there'll be at least a slight motion from her. But there's none.
Her body was weirdly cold but he could still feel her heartbeat in her pulse. It was faint but at least there's a beating.
"I've checked her ten times since the dawn started," Shinobu said in a raspy voice. "Aoi-chan and I took shifts to make sure she gets attention each hour."
"Have you even gotten any sleep?"
She shook her head. "I'm busy making medicines for her... and none of it works. I'm now doubting my knowledge."
The man turned his face to look at Shinobu who's currently looking down on the floor, blankly. "You should rest."
"I can't."
"I think I'm capable of taking over for a little while," Giyuu forced. "F/N wouldn't be happy to see you drown yourself because of her."
Shinobu slowly lifted her head to meet him with slight tears forming in her eyes. She sighed before standing up to her feet. "I guess, I could leave you here for a few hours. Thank you," she muttered. "Please call Aoi if you need anything for her or for yourself."
When she finally left, he took the chair and sat on it without letting F/N's hand go. "F/N. Don't you feel bad for Kocho? You should wake up now," he said as he softly squeezed her hand. "I miss the time when we're assigned to work together in some places to hunt down demons. We'll find a place to eat before the night comes and after a success, we'll celebrate by eating good foods as our breakfast," he recalled. "Then it's either we separate our ways when we reached the Butterfly Mansion or you'll go with me at home...
... I truly miss everything," he whispered. "It hasn't been a month since you woke up and now you're lying here again. I didn't even get to properly spend time with you in that span of days."
"I AM TRYING MY BEST!"
Giyuu got startled at the familiar voice outside the room whom he guessed is Kocho's, but wondered why she shouted and it sounded so angry. Looking back at F/N, he lets go of her hand and went to the door to see.
"I AM! I ALWAYS AM! CAN'T NO ONE SEE THAT?!"
Her yells echoed all throughout the mansion and even alarmed the patients in the ward. She's already crying and kept talking angrily.
Giyuu looked at the person in front of her and saw that it was Obanai. From what he could tell, he must've triggered her by asking to cure her quickly.
"I've done everything I could to find the best medicine for her! I asked for her blood, Yoru's blood and still, nothing have changed!" Everyone remained silent. "I'm also scared to keep injecting medicines to her knowing that she's already in bad shape."
"Shinobu-sama, please calm down," Aoi tried.
"Do you think it's easy for me, Iguro-san?" She asked. "F/N lived with us for almost a decade! She's my family too! And it hurts me to see one of my family sick! She's unconscious, she's in coma, she's almost dead!" She harshly grasped her hair until it's all messy and disheveled. "I'm tired of seeing the people I love in this state where death is coming for them... I lost my parents, I lost Onee-san, I lost a lot of Tsuguko... I can't bare to lose her too!!!"
Aoi walked to her side and patted her back. "Please."
"You can't just tell me and force me and rush me to make her better, because I already am doing my best before you could've thought of it," she added. "The first time she showed symptoms, I already thought of what I should do. I want her to use the Crescent Moon anytime she wants without damaging her physical body." Shinobu sighed and tried to calm herself and softly looked at Obanai's eyes. "She was so, so adamant on taking full control of Yoru, because she wants to be a great help in defeating Muzan."
Obanai was taken aback of her full outburst and immediately regretted the words he said. He was worried too. Giyuu can't blame any of them. These people are F/N's family who's distressed in F/N's situation.
"I'm sorry," Obanai muttered. "I got carried away. You...should know how I feel about this too."
"We all are feeling the same thing about this," Shinobu said. "But if you're really that worried, stop putting pressure towards me and do something too."
She turned her back to him and started walking towards her room, leaving everyone silent, all shocked of what had just happened.
Giyuu only sighed before returning to the room, beside the limp body of F/N, whom remained unmoved.
"Sorry, you had to hear that."
to be continued.
