Ch 42 : Will of fire

The prison guards saluted when they saw a vice admiral approaching them. the vice admiral Stopped in his tracks for a body check before passing through the giant gate to the prison.

The sound of footsteps echoed deep within the underground prison. It was completely dark inside, he could barely see even with the help of the lantern in his hand.

He arrived at his destination, the prison of a young man. Warm orange light flicker as the vice admiral illuminates the prison with his lantern.

" Ace "( garp)

The young man raised his head, infront of him stood an old man holding a lantern. He couldn't see the old man in the eyes out of guilt.

The old man had warned him many times but he didn't listened to him. Being a pirate was his dream, living the remnants of his father's legacy. He had never regreted choosing the life of a pirate.

The cold hard chains around his body reminded him of his failure. There were so much thing he wanted to change if he ever get the chance to turn back the clock.

" Don't blame yourself too much." (Garp)

Ace gathered his remaining courage and look at the old man in the eye. Infront of him was not the hero that the marine proud of nor the vice admiral but just a grandfather looking at his grandson.

" Garp, im sorry." ( Ace)

He knew how stuborn ace could be, his apologize showed the gravity of the situation. A sigh escapes garp's mouth as he sat infront of ace's prison.

" How is luffy?" (Ace)

It had been a long time since he saw his brother. His mouth curved into a small smile looking back at the memories he had of meeting his brother at alabasta.

" He searching for you." (Garp)

His smile disapeared, the room became a slightly hotter than before. He could imagine luffy running around trying to find him. He didn't know if he should laugh or be mad at luffy.

" You are very lucky to have a great friends, i heard the white beard pirate is coming here with all of their fleets." (Garp)

Garp casually dropped the second bomb. Ace's mind stopped working for a moment. The white beard brought the whole fleet just to safe him as if he was a damsel in distress.

" Tell them not to come here, it is a trap" (Ace)

All he got was laughter in response. The vice admiral's stomach hurt from laughing too hard.

" Hahaha, you underestimated his stubornness. Those guys coming here knowing the danger. Don't think too much, just accept their help." (Garp)

Ace lowered his head, a thousand thought swrilled inside his mind. It was a reckless plan, saving him wasn't worth the risk.

Garp took the lantern and stood up. He looked at ace with disapointed face.

"What kind of pirate give up after being caught once. You said you want to be a pirate, then become a damn great pirate like your father."
(Garp)

The vice admiral said before leaving the prison. The fire on the lantern flickered a little bit brighter than before.
