February 2028; Night 1
-Nicole's and Hope's Dorm Room/Salvatore Boarding School-
(Nicole's Narration)

When we're young, we're taught the distinction between a hero and a villain, good and evil, a savior and a lost cause. But what if the only real difference is just who's telling the story? My name is Nicole Mikaelson. My twin sister, Hope and I come from a long line of the villains in the tales you've heard about vampires, werewolves, witches, and everything in between. The school behind these gates protects the secrets of people like us. And tonight, under the light of the full moon, we will be opening our doors to someone new. While Hope and Headmaster Saltzman were away to pick up the potential new student, I was practicing my violin in mine and Hope's bedroom. As much as I liked recruiting with my twin and Headmaster Saltzman, I wasn't feeling up to it tonight. So, I sat there on my bed, my eyes closed as I listened to the music I was playing. The piece was one of my Uncle Elijah's favorites, but then again, he said any piece I played was his favorite. I still think about him, my dad, and my mom every single day. And every day, I wish there was something I could've done to save them. But sadly,...there wasn't. After about 15 minutes, I set my violin down in its case and then I hear my phone ring. I go back over to my bed and grab my phone from off my nightstand, seeing I received a text from Hope.

Hope's Text: "We just got the new student. Dr. Saltzman and I will be back with him in the morning."

Nicole's Text: "Okay. I guess I'll have to save you a stack of waffles." *chuckles*

Hope's Text: "Thanks, Sis. And don't forget your pills before you go to bed."

The pills my "caretaker" is talking about, help me sleep at night. The school counselor, Emma Tig, says I suffer from PTSD, which causes me to have terrible nightmares. She used to have some of the younger students make these magical dreamcatchers that would capture my nightmares and keep them locked away. But my nightmares ended up being too powerful and the last dreamcatcher I used was destroyed, releasing all of my nightmares it contained. Some students got affected that night, including Lizzie Saltzman. And believe me, I still haven't heard the end of it.

Nicole's Text: "I won't, Doc. Goodnight." *sets her phone back on her nightstand*

After taking my two pills, I lay down beside my sleeping black and gray tabby cat, Magic, smiling softly when she snuggles against me. I gently pet her soft fur and pretty soon, I feel my eyelids start to get heavy and I finally fall asleep a couple minutes later.
