Mobius/Earth
An abandoned base
There was nothing but an unwavering atmosphere of darkness. No visible sign of light from the outside world seemed to be shining its way through the cold walls of one of the numerous laboratories that once belonged to the nefarious Dr. Ivo Eggman Robotnik. The only sources of light that could be seen came from what seemed to be a multitude of capsules that were planted into the otherwise-dark laboratory.
“Sonic the Hedgehog. How I hate him... despise him...” Someone said in a angry tone. “...and all of that loathing has been focused into this invincible instrument of destruction!”
As the person spoke, he turned to the capsule at the very center which seemed to contain... something. He then continued, “Every defeat, every humiliation at that damn hedgehog’s hands, shall be returned a thousandfold with extreme prejudice by my latest and most unstoppable creation!”
“This... Is my dream come true...” he muttered menacingly as he manically admired the aforementioned creation. “With this new power I now have under my clutches, I will have everything I need to expand my glorious Eggman Empire across the globe and make the Earth kneel before me. They will know... that the future isn't truly, set."
As the unknown figure was gloating to himself at the thought of what he believed would finally be his ultimate victory, a human-sized capsule could be seen standing right in front of him. As it turned out, it didn't contain something, but someone - an entity who seemed to be a Mobian. He was sporting an dominantly black outfit with a dark grey metallic mask that covered one of his eyes, with the one left open sporting a blood-red sclera and a yellow iris. In addition, what seemed to be a mysterious, magenta-colored gemstone with a black stripe on each facet was adorned at the very center of his chest.
Whatever the figure had planned this whole time, it was most likely something that he made sure to plan as thoroughly as he possibly could...
Meanwhile. . .
The second major New Republic Senate faction were the Centrists, made up by Unionists and former Imperialists, who shared the dream of a more authoritarian, centralized and overall united Galaxy and New Republic that had a powerful head of state fusing most of it’s government powers inside a few people and had a strong military capable of defending it against all threats foreign and within alike. Centrists supported a strong rule of law and order, blaming the weakness and shortcomings of the New Republic as the reason many Rim and Expansion Region worlds after the victory of the Empire had not joined the New Republic and made it as extended as the Old Republic. At the same time they also blamed the New Republic, the Galactic Alliance and their Starfighter Corps as the reasons why despots and tyrants like the Hutt Cartels, Black Sun, Zann Consortium, Crimson Dawn and others ruled larger parts of the rim then ever before since at least the Clone Wars. Because of that the Centrist claimed some aspects of the Galactic Empire like the centralized political power, galactic unity, strong military and overall patriotism had been nothing bad, yes the New Republic could actually benefit from the return of some, or all of this aspects in a more limited form. This way the corruption and tyranny of Palpatine so the Centrists was unlikely to return, while at the same time they advocated for something like the old Council of Moffs or a similar institution concentrating local sector and overall galactic power in their hands. The formation of much of the centrists from former Core and Colony worlds Imperial remnants was obvious in such claims, but even some non-human alien Outer Rim worlds, species, systems and sectors who had fallen to anarchy, chaos, despotism and tyranny since the fall of the Empire tented to agree more with the Centrists then with the Neo-Seperatists, or Outer Rim Block that made up the Populists. Formerly rivaling and paralyzed as Imperial remnant warlords and groups, one they were welcomed in the New Republic these Imperial worlds and Imperialist, often humancentric followers of the Imperial New Order reorganized and reunited as the Centrists, creating a strong basis for their ambitions, ideals, ideology and politics within the Galactic Senate of the Ne Republic. Their opposition of Populist principles and ideas was what would put the Galactic Alliance Senate into a gridlock that made it unusable until the Centrists finally broke away from the Galactic Alliance as Imperial Remnants and an Imperialist Union that served from then on as the public face of a secret Neo-Imperial First Order movement, with the goal to form a legal successor of the Old Empire in their own, New Empire.
Currently, things soon stabilized between the Galactic Alliance and the Chiss Ascendancy, with further diplomatic efforts convincing the Chiss to pull their fleets back before going to war with the Killiks.
