The First Order, or the Order rising in the Unknown Regions section of the galaxy trough neo-Imperialist ideology and supporters ruled by a secret Supreme Leader had been isolationist for much of it's existence. Little was known beside their fanatical loyalty and devotion of authoritarian totalitarianism and their opposition to the New Republic and it's democratic confederacy in every way, shape and form. The agitations of the New Order with the Imperial Remnants and Imperial Holdouts, as well as in the New Republic lead the Galactic Cold War, during which the New Order tried to get the upper hand with more strong minded and willed, technological superior equipped elite forces. At the same time they kept their true military potential hidden, so the New Republic would not strike them preemptively before their buildup was ready. The first things known of the New Order was that those Imperials escaping into the Unknown Regions followed secret orders of Darth Sidious were secret stronghold worlds with bases, industries and shipyards had been built, similar to those in the Deep Core sector and some in Wild Space. Their goal was to rebuild forces to retake control of the Galaxy, as well as aid a reborn Sidious. The New Order slowly would grow among Imperials, influencing the New Republic from within, at least until they would slit off and more openly join the New Order as a returned Empire. They were secretly and formerly lead by Snoke was a clone of Darth Plagueis, the secret master of Darth Sidious, who would be their Supreme Leader without many knowing Darth Sidious himself ruled all of this in secret from the shadows. The fact that the New Republic Senator named Lanever Villecham tried to appease the Unionist and Centrists by giving up some sectors, systems, worlds and species to them already sympathetic to them, or were they had a majority during their rime inside the New Republic, that had not outright left with them before the First Order surprise attack.

The New Order had tried best to overcome the weaknesses and problems of the former Galactic Empire. The problem was the old rule of the Sith and their influence over the New Order tempted and corrupted them from within, just like the Old Galactic Empire, while also lacking leaders like Grand Admiral Thrawn. Military discipline was therefore key, as the Unionists and Centrists believed in an overall strong, centralized and united Galactic state. Their secret center of command was the Supremacy, a ship meant to keep the keep little of the newly aligned Imperial Remnants and Imperial Holdout Warlords in line, while also serving as a temporary frontline flagship, at least until the Imperial Core, Coruscant was fully retaken and secured away from the frontlines with the New Republic. Secretly recruiting during conscription and recruit in the Centrists worlds and the Dominion of Allied Empires, as well as integrate their local, independent former Imperial forces, that the New Order would once again untie into a centralized New Order Imperial Army, while also using Clones of those Imperial Stormtroopers they already had. The New Republic and N.A.T.O. recovered some damaged starships, as well as questioned some Imperial trooper's admirals and generals captured to learn that not all Star destroyers supposedly lost in battle and Stormtrooper Legions seemingly annihilated in battles neither participated in. While the New Republic victories had been great, the Imperial Remnants had not been defeated, but shifted their interest from defense, to retreat and regrouping. Some of the Imperials currently under Imperial High Empress Huntress now shattered aided in concealing the truth from the new Republic, that Imperial Moffs, Governors, Admirals and Generals supposedly killed had survived, but retreated into Wild Space and the Unknown Regions to reunite and reform. The finest designers, technicians and skilled personal of all branches of the Empire would reunite as the so called New Order, that would use the prebuild bases of the Empire build there for this purpose, to allow Darth Sidious to return to rule over the Galaxy. This why in his defeat, death and fragmentation of the Empire, this was the secret First Order for all loyal Imperialists, while the Battle of Jakku as well as the Pellaeon-Gavrvisom Treaty was intended to get rid of the loyal and weak Imperial elements, whose failure in Darth Sidious eyes had lead to the rise and victory of the Rebellion.
