Second first date

When she arrived at work that morning, Maya went immediately to see Pruitt Herrera, her captain, to inform him that she was replacing Lucas until 7pm. She took the opportunity to make a somewhat unusual request.

The morning had been quite hectic with a lot of interventions. Maya was worried that her plan for tonight would fall through and she thought she should have come up with a backup idea.

Fortunately, in the early afternoon there was a lull and although the B team was not hers, they were a real family and her colleagues had helped her to prepare her plan for tonight.

At 14:30 she was again on duty. A woman had found herself with her leg stuck in the asphalt following a landslide in the road. This intervention had lasted longer than expected due to the pipes which passed under this portion of the road.

By 6 p.m. she was back at the station. A girl from the B team had finished preparing what Maya had planned.
She would definitely have to do some favors again. But for Carina she was all worth it.

Bambina: a lot of interventions, I will not have time to pick you up for tonight, can you meet me at the fire station at 7pm?

Amore-mio : si perfeto, I'm impatient

Bambina: me too

She finished preparing for the evening and went to take a shower to change. She wouldn't have time to go home again.

She had planned to wear a beige suit with a brown top that brought out the color of her skin still a little tanned despite that it was already November.

At 7 pm Carina arrived at the station, in fact she had already been waiting for ten minutes in front of it but she didn't want to seem too impatient.

Lucas was at the front desk. He let Carina in.

- "Hi, beautiful, how are you?" He said as he took her in his arms.

- "Are you okay?"

- "yes perfect and you?"

- "very well thank you, you have a date with Maya to be so dressed up?" She was sublime, a black suit that reached above her ankles. A white shirt and black and white patent flat shoes. It was not necessary to put heels she was taller than Maya.

-"Yes," she said with the most radiant of smiles.

- "ok, she'll be done in five minutes, she had some paperwork to do, I'll give you a tour"

- "are you allowed?"

- "Yes, and then the captain left an hour ago. As you know I was promoted to lieutenant on Monday, so I have the right to decide if the captain is not here."

- "congratulations again"

Ripley began to show Carina around the station, downstairs, then upstairs, then he took her up stairs again. To open the door to the roof deck.

/Flashback/

- "oh and captain I have a request for you"

- "speak Bishop"

-"I know it's against the rules, but I would like a civilian to enter the station. I would like to prepare a surprise for her on the roof, with your agreement of course."

- "is this the girl you keep talking about? The one we pulled out of her car on Beacon Hill?"

- "yes chief"

- "tell me a little bit about that story"

- "she is Italian, I met her 7 years ago, a little more now. My father was based in Catania in Sicily. And her father was a Colonel there. And I fell in love with her almost instantly. She's beautiful, she has a laugh, ahhh, the most beautiful laugh. And she's generous, kind, she's the perfect woman. And did I mention she's gorgeous? And we dated. After a year my father was transferred here to Arizona. And despite the distance, it worked. It was going very well. But I was in military school, I was sent on a six month tour of duty and as you know my brother died, he was killed in the line of duty. And I fell like into a depression. I never wrote back to her. To any of her letters. And I never tried to see her again. She had always told me I should be a firefighter, so I went to the academy, the rest you know. And... I was sent to an intervention, on our anniversary and it was her."
