A very long flight

Tuesday morning arrived very quickly. Carina had hardly slept all night. Her parents knew she was back with Maya, but had they forgiven her for the way their story had ended the first time? Had they forgiven her for hurting Carina?

She was anxious and excited. Going back to Sicily with Maya was everything. If Maya had not come with her family to this small island in Italy, they probably would never have met.

Maya was also anxious. Andrea had been testing the waters with her parents for her, but she wasn't really convinced that they were happy to see her again.

Carina hadn't read a letter in over a month now. They had agreed to bring some for the trip. This made Maya twice as anxious. She was going to have a 17-hour flight with Carina reading her letters next to her.

The reservation was made at once so that they would not all be spread out on the plane. On the first flight, Seattle-New York, the seats were two on one side and three on the other. Andy, Carina and Maya were on the left side of the plane. Andy was at the window, Maya in the middle and Carina on her right. Sam and Andrea were in the two seats in the same row across the center aisle.

The flight had begun and Carina had already taken some letters out of her bag.

[They whispered]

- "already?"

- "Bambina it's a long flight, what else can I do?"

-"Watch a movie with me? Play a game? Listen to music... Go to the airplane bathroom with your firefighter girlfriend?"

- "I am only interested in the last option and I think it is the least serious of your proposals. And it's been a while since I've read any letters."

- "ok, ok, if you want to read about me getting laid what better way than on a plane! No?"

- "every time you slept with someone you wrote to me?"

- "arrff, no, fortunately ..."

- "Uh, Maya how many girls have you slept with?"

- "I don't think this is the right place..."

- "from what? A place where you can't run away?"

- "no there surrounded by lots of people including your brother, Sam, Andy"

- "Maya?"

- "I didn't count. But the girl in the first letter, Charlotte, obviously the nurse at Grey Sloan and the firefighters and police officers and doctors."

- "with s ?"

- "Carina... You're the one who wants to know"

- "a number, Maya?!"

- "I don't know... 15 ?!"

- "15??!" This sentence had not been whispered

- "shhhh!"

- "you slept with 15 different girls in two years?!"

- "more or less"

- "more or less?"

- "Carina..."

- "more or less?"

-"I don't know, once a month, sometimes twice. Rarely  twice with the same one, except Charlotte."

- "once a month, maybe twice? Okay, when you put it that way, it doesn't sound..."

- "slut?"

-"Stop it Maya, I never said that. It's just that saying 15 or more sounds like a lot."
